Hi there I am Australian and have a stack of silver in storage in the US - too much for hand luggage. Can anyone suggest a shipping method back to Australia? For 12kg UPS has quoted me $600+ USD. USPS says that they will not allow bullion shipping, as does the Australia Post US mail redirect service. (Otherwise the fees would be a very good $150. Just wondering what means stackers use here as I dont want to fork over nearly $1K AUD. Putting it in my check in baggage is not an option. Thanks in advance. Matt
Try ringing Perth Mint, or BULLION NOW Phone: 1300 334 653 in Melbourne & ask them. (probably closed for the Queens Birthday Holiday).
You have probably already cost analysed the option of selling your holdings and buying back here here in OZ with the funds. Circumventing the concerns of Security of postage,Postage costs, transport and handling by 3rd party prior to postage. RB
Possible to convert to gold or cash and transfer that way? Sure it'll costs to sell and convert back, but maybe not as much as shipping? I'm pretty sure you can bring in as much gold jewelry as you can wear
So 12kg is about US$5700 worth. You can sell the silver in the US and buy a single gold chain and walk through customs with it. https://goldsilver.com/buy-online/22k-byzantine-gold-necklace-22-inch/ But obviously going to be less loss to simply wire the cash. But if you do want to ship it, use Fedex or DHL or some other courier and label it machine parts. You could do that for Australia post too, but I'd split the shipments up,
