1oz Proof, 1kg Proof and 3 coin set proof available on the Perth Mint website. Taken me 25 minutes to make an order as the website is extremely slow and keeps crashing. Release prices are: 3 coin set proof = $399 1 oz proof = $112 As I speak, 3 coin set proof (SOLD OUT) 1kg proof (SOLD OUT) 1oz proof, still available as at 11.25 AM EST.
It's all been done over here http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-14308-perth-mint-new-releases-proof-year-of-the-dragon.html 40 minutes of reclicking to get mine.
Cant wait to see how much a 1oz Proof and 3-coin set Proof are selling for on feebay or on here, someone sell one please? Amuse me
with the bullion selling as crazy as 100 ..... the proof should be ...... 200 easy i think. I'll just sit back and watch the <private individual investment capitalisation> fest begin.
Seeing as how I would hate to waste a perfectly good thread, please educate me... Proofs, what's that all about? By which I mean I know the coin is struck to a higher standard, often several times on a highly polished planchet and then carefully placed in a capsule. What I want to know is how well do they sell, is it just to the numismatic market, is there a higher demand than the bullion or is the demand less but the supply also less. How long does it take to get your money back on them and are they worth paying all that extra money for, are they for your own personal collection or is this another case of speculating on the secondry market? Cheers
It is funny that it is greed from the dealers and people are horrified by the gouging, but it is many of the same people who were simply trying to protect their own ability to gouge We are only human I guess...
I for one only bought the bullion so I could resell it at a massive mark up in the future, why else would I pay 25% premiums?!
It's about the fact that the Perth Mint, knowing that the Dragon would be a cash cow, gave preferential treatment to certain dealers over Australia dealers and their customers. Today with the proofs going online everyone had the same chance to buy one (pretty much). But with the bullion 1oz's the Perth Mint gave a leg up to their mates. That's the issue.
Proofs also became available today at CoinClub and Downies (European) but both look to have been labelled "sold out" as soon as they were posted.
I'll sell my 1oz silver 2012 dragon proof for 9 billion Australian Dollars. PHWOAAAAAAAAAAAAR BARGAINNNNNNN.
I just checked my order history on the perth mint website. It says the amount of my order is over 3 million dollars!!! :O I only ordered two different silver proof coins but submitted my order again and again due to their server errors. I'll probably get a call from Amex soon... Anyone wants some silver dragon proofs?
