That's the point. Why compromise for short-term gain? Paul doesn't really want to be President, I believe. I don't know what sane, rational person would. What he wants is to change the world. He wants it to emerge from the dark age that was the 20th century, the century of governments, to a more reasoned, rational, ethical, enlightened and more pleasant age. This is the second renaissance and he is going to be seen as one of the major figures.
It may take another generation though, however it will be worth it for our children and their children
