I'm usually pretty active on here, but I've been out of the markets for a few months, distracted by other things and trying to enjoy the spring and summer. But, with the pullbacks in metals, I got the itch to think about some purchases. But, I wanted to see if gold, silver or platinum is really on sale. I did some reading, looked at the historical and came to the conclusion that despite the drops in platinum and silver in relation to gold, everything is pretty fairly valued based on the historical ratios. I wrote up a brief article on Seeking Alpha if you're interested in reading: http://seekingalpha.com/article/658611-precious-metals-are-on-sale-or-are-they
Sure thing. Thought it might be a good discussion starter. I just wish the findings resulted in a better 'bargain' signal. I've been wrapped up in numismatics for most of the winter that I got sidetracked from my overall investment theme. With these ratios where they are, I'm not really sure where to put money. I try to stay very diversified and there are a lot of stocks that look like good buys that I would like to increase my positions in. Alas, my budget is limited so I need to try to get the most for my money.
I'm interested in what the opinions are of our community. What's cheap? What are you buying? Where do you see the markets going? Do you have any specific strategies? Please share, either here or comment on the article.
No specific strategies but been buying when opportunity presents. Bought a pile of those '91 reminted Kookaburras that Gold Stackers commissioned* Reckon they're cheap for the limited mintage. Bought a bit of gold. All recent I think Bullion Baron here made out a good case for the correction in precious metals being over, and when Marc Faber says, "No More Downside For Gold", that get's my attention. Feeling more relaxed about the metals lately * http://forums.silverstackers.com/message-366231.html#p366231 http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...re-s-no-more-downside-for-gold-read-more.html
I've done much the same. I am very guilty of setting a strategy and then getting sidetracked by numi- and semi-numi coins which end up throwing all of my allocations out the window. LOL.
I posted a new follow-up article today. Check it out: http://seekingalpha.com/article/676081-are-metals-due-for-a-meltdown
