Have you noticed your deliveries taking way longer to arrive than normal? Now we know why some parcels are making a 1500km detour.

With an estimated one third of all of Australia’s demand for deliveries coming from Victoria, parcels haven’t been spared from the embattled state’s coronavirus lockdown.

Many online shopping deliveries are being rerouted around Australia to ease pressure off Victoria’s Australia Post workforce.

Some packages are clocking up to 1500km of unnecessary travel to reach their buyer.

Just checked to see how one of my parcels were going.
Left QLD 19th and is at the facility in Melbourne last night.
Hope it doesn't decide to do a U-Turn and head to another state.
    So far so good.

The last parcel I had took about 8 or 9 days and that came from Sydney.

    Cheers Markco2

Posting from WA - I spoke to Auspost the other day, asked if Express is really worth it, the reply was “We grab the yellow bags 1st but limited flights sends most things by road or rail”. They are doing their best with the options they have. This virus has increased online shopping also.

Australia post is a shambles and then the moronic Victorian premier cut their staff levels by a third. At a time when people are depending on the post because of the ineptitude and corruption of Victoria’s government they double down and enact rules that stop people using the post.

victorians are under 23 hour a day house arrest and depend on the “Red Cross” for their parcels and Andrews has found a way to even prevent that.

I have parcels going all over Oz at the moment and a heap of pissed off customers wanting to know why they haven't received their parcels yet.

Just now I have been notified that a parcel that I sent from Geelong to Melbourne which is all of 75km away is currently in Sydney.

    WTF!!!!!!!!!

    They say on their website.

“We're experiencing delays at the moment, so this item may take up to 5 business days to arrive. Express Post is our fastest delivery service, and Express items are being prioritised for delivery”

No shit you are and no your not o_O

Apparently it's called "optimising the delivery network". o_O
    --
Over the last three weeks, Australia Post has experienced a significant increase in demand as Victorians have increased their online buying due to stage 4 lockdowns. At the same time, our business has been required to make additional adjustments in our processing and deliveries workforce to comply with the State Government's COVID Safe restrictions.

We want to reassure you that our people continue to work tirelessly under difficult and unprecedented circumstances with a firm commitment to serve you and your community.

As a result of the constraints on our network and the continuing rise in parcel volumes, our speed and ability to deliver has been impacted. And while we're doing everything we can to deliver your online purchases as safely and quickly as possible, we hope you understand that these additional restrictions have resulted in increased delays.

    Father's Day deliveries
With Father's Day just around the corner, please make sure you leave enough time for shipping. Post your items before these cut-off dates:
    • For letters and Parcel Post: 28 August 2020
    • For Express Post: 31 August 2020
    Optimising our delivery network
You may notice your parcel is being processed and delivered from different locations. As our business adapts to the current challenges, we're optimising our network to deliver parcels as quickly as possible. This means that your parcel may be sorted and processed at a location that's different from what you're normally used to.

    Keep track of your parcels
Our tracking tool, accessible on our website and app, gives you the most accurate guidance on estimated delivery dates, as well as any delays while your parcel is in transit.

Put an investigation query in. I had a package that sat at Perth airport for 4 days until I put in an investigation claim. The day after the claim went in, it was in my PO box.

I bought some bike bits online a few days ago .
The person who owns the retail shop /online also owns a courier company .
FRF couriers ,the item is gps tracked ,I've watched it leave the depot in the morning ,South Melb .
Then all over town now in Frankston ,wander how long it will take him to get to St.kilda .
I think couriers are the go for now instead of slowpost
