Whatever one thinks of these from the photos (and the drama), it's hard to deny that these look really freakin' cool in-hand..

I like the Palau design better than the Ghana.

And the minting quality is miles better than the Goat.

Goat skull design is still better than the Monkey skull design, but it's also still growing on me that much more.

At this point, my only beef is the high issue price. :(

Keep the mint. Keep the Palau.

Put out a great skull design every year, and they've got me collecting this entire series..

    They look like complete crap.
Aesthetically, this is possibly one of the worst examples of a coin I've seen.

Be careful with Scrooged, man he can bring the hammer down hard, but then again, I know you can too. I hope you and he go a few rounds.

He is entitled to his opinion. I wish he would post some pictures of his stuff so we can tell him what turds he picked up.

I tend to agree, ugly but the quality looks like it's there still at least.
Different obverse, different artist, consistency is very important if you want a series to succeed long-term.
My hunch is this series will lose steam very quickly, even if there is a small cult following. Not good considering they already cost too much out of the gate.

Well that won't be happening as I don't collect coins, I just buy silver.
What I could do is take that monkey thing, spend 10 minutes with Photoshop and make it look at least like a $30 coin. Alternatively I could take pics of the bullion coins I do have that design wise, blows this thing out of the water.

I'm not saying it's not a good/bad investment as I wouldn't have a clue. I'm merely saying from my perspective that not a lot of thought looks to have gone into this series, almost making it up as they go along.

Again personally, I think the design of that new Wedge Tailed Eagle coin (Apex Predator Series) is stunning. Wonderful artwork (again) by Elise Martinson, proportionately perfect layout both sides. Consistent branding from coin to box to marketing. It looks well thought out.
It's a rectangle shaped coin? It's an coloured coin (of sorts)? Will it do well as an investment, who knows but design wise it's very good.
I watched the AGSX marketing video on this coin (only goes for 1:15) and if you pause the vid at 1:10 you'll see the Tasmanian Devil. If that is a sneak peek into what's coming in the series, I think artistically the series will look stunning.

Tell ya what, I'll buy one ($95 for an ounce will hurt) and take a stack of pics and see if you can spot the difference between pleasing design and any old random shit banged up, boxed and issued an serial number.

I hope you guys do well out of this skull series. Truly.

Oh and Barsenault, whilst I'm in Photoshop I'll see if I can't minimise that panda by 2000 or so percent for ya.
