yennus, as of auction it looks like someone dumped all his panda collection ...
I'm not sure how far it will go in value, but the collection could make someone very happy :)

1984 2 and 1985 are carded proofs (it is written on cards in Japanese)

1st 1984 carded was sold for 59150 yen ... looks like people believe these are real

    Hi all!
I want to ask about red spot on gold coin.

Does fake gold coin has red spot? Or only appear on real gold? Thanks!

Interesting question... so far I've only seen the red spots develop on genuine Pandas... but there would be nothing to stop copper spots (red spots) from appearing on fake Pandas.

When you are weiging coins to check for authenticity, how close to 31.1g is an acceptable weight? E.g. Is 30.8g or 32g within the range of the coin being real?

I'm pretty sure this coin is fake because it has slanted reeding, but it seems to match the original in every other way.

Slanted reeding is a dead give away on 2000, maybe more clues would be found if we had full on shot of the coins face.

I know it's fake due to the reeding, but here are some pics for everybody else's info as well. If it wasn't for the reeding I may have wasted my time/money submitting this coin to NGC.

The only thing that would tip me off looking at the front is the nose:

    Here is the dead giveaway:

Even weighs out correctly, but it didn't quite have that full silver 'ring' to it.

Cut it open, see if it is solid?

Here is another that I suspect is fake.

These look like 'bubbles' in the finish of the coin:

    Would this be considered underweight?

Thanks, I didn't even catch that. I was more focused on the weight, the feel, and those 'bubbles' on the back.

The BSOD on the 2000 panda's nose is also a giveaway.
