Small bars big news for those seeking affordable gold
We are pleased to announce 1/2oz cast barsmade from 99.99% pure gold have been reintroduced for sale by The Perth Mint.

The choice of many investors as a result of their low sales premium, cast bars currently come in eight sizes ranging from 1/2oz to 50oz.

Offering a particularly attractive price point for many buyers, the button sized 1/2oz bullion bar features the Mint’s swan logo – our London Bullion Market Association accredited stamp. The back of the bar is engraved with its purity and weight.

That will fill a hole that was in my accumulation program.
I especially like the 9999 content and the fact there is no currency denomination on them.
Now all we need is a reasonable price for them.

    Great news.

I wonder if it indicates growing demand or may be even a shift in demand/collectibility
for poured buttons vs Certipacked bars.

Silverthorn is right on the money about half Oz being a good size.
I would much rather have 2 halfs than one whole in my hand.
I have always had a reserve nagging in my head when spending 2k on a little bar but for some reason find the nagging is not there when buying halfs.

Problem is you pay double the premium for the same oz of gold

Will be getting a few as funds become available over the next few months.

My wishlist includes an Australian 1/20th Kangaroo coin similar to the Chinese Lunar coins of that denomination ($5) if Perth Mint ever makes them.

I wouldn't mind adding a couple of dozen or so even if the premium hurts. - about $108 each at the moment. (Chinese coin).

I contacted PB last week to see when they will stock these, surprisingly they didn't know anything about them but the said their 'stock manager' will look into it and get back to me.
Got word back today it will be in stock within 2 weeks.

Hi all, has anyone else heard when or even seen the new bars at any other retail store? I'm specifically interested in Sydney but please share from around the country.

PB now has them in stock according to the website.
Even if you are in Sydney it may almost be the same price as they are good on postage.
