Perth Mint has always been a wholesale refinery rather than retail with most of it silver coming from goild refining. It is only recently that we started to bring in silver from OS due to demand for coins, prior to 2008 the silver from gold refining was enough to meet our retail product needs. 1000oz is the largest bar we or anyone else makes and is standard wholesale market size. I don't think the standard size was ever specified higher than that, 32kg is heavy enough.
I got a couple of bars out for a swap and I found that there were (at least) two different moulds used for the F design - one which is slightly shorter, narrower but fatter than the other (on the RHS of all pics). It's only slight but definitely there.

Yep, seen that as well - even in the same box of bars new from the mint. Both molds in use at the same time. For reference, there is the matt style Type F bar (labelled B in a sales thread just to be confusing) I currently have (next to a Type B - labelled A!). Surface almost looks porous - nothing like the current slick finish. Ignore the A & B in the photo - they're just labels from a sale, not type references.
I have a type "b" wt 9.82 no 8048 (don't freak out its just a number) As gp wants max and min wts for types.

Nice kilos - seen more of the middle extruded example than the outer ones. There are 100oz bars in similar styles to both.
I actually saw a similar 100oz go for auction on feebay Australia for ~ 2600 AUD recently. Was tempted to buy, but I really couldn't start on collecting 100oz silver bars. Way too expensive for me!
A reposting from another thread that's relevant for this one. Thought I'd contribute a beauty to the thread. This is the rare "SCCC" hallmark. It is located on the bottom of a long "The Perth Mint" 1 Kilo Bar circa 1980's, along feature is a 4 digit serial number. At first I didn't know what to make of it but dolomite here is a real champion and this is an awesome thread!
