these coins are available from today 2011 Australian Bush Babies Koala 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin 2011 Ships That Changed The World - Santa Maria 1oz Silver Proof Coin 2011 Wildlife in Need - Giant Panda 1oz Silver Proof Coin what are your opinions on these coins?
yes, the panda is the first of 5 Forthcoming Releases: August 2011: Orangutan November 2011: Polar Bear February 2012: Black Rhinoceros May 2012: Siberian Tiger
I like them... The Santa Maria and the Panda in particular ! The Koala will go nicely with the rest of the Bush Babies. I'm sure they'll be popular, might be worth to get a few...
Koalas = yes as last coin in Bush Babies series. Need at least one. Ship = no Panda = possibly. Whilst I realise Perth Mint manufacture coins for other countries and dealers, I do wish they would disclose on their web page if the product has been specially commissioned by a dealer.
I'm not into colored coins, so won't be getting any. would have to see them in person first, but by those illustrations: koala - uck. too cutsie ship - nice design, if I was into ships I'd at least consider this coin. panda - not bad, but I don't like the layout with pandas hovering over hands like that, looks wierd.
The panda looks the pick of the bunch but at $114.50 for their 1oz coloured coins now, that's just wayyy too much of a premium when spot is like $40.00 Ships that changed the world:- 1. The "Famous Naval Battles" was a flop, lucky to get your issue price back. 2. The Perth Mint site doesnt state what the next 4 coins in the set are. Think I'll leave Pandas and Ships well alone.....
http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalogue/2011-wildlife-in-need-giant-panda-silver-proof-coin.aspx, click on "About the Series" in item description... The coin is commissioned by Coin Club and is minted by the Perth Mint. "The Giant Panda is the first release in this exciting new series. Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Governemnt of Tuvalu. By purchasing this coin, Coin Club Australia will make a donation of $1.99 to The WWF Australia on your behalf. Forthcoming Releases: Orangutan, Polar Bear, Black Rhinoceros, Siberian Tiger" With the quick jump in prices from 82.50 -> 89.50 -> 97.50 -> 105.00 -> 112.50, there seems no end in sight... lol What's everyone's thoughts on the new releases in the Wildlife Series, the Orangutan, Polar Bear, Black Rhinoceros and the Siberian Tiger??
Considering on buying the pandas ... but not really too interested in rest of the set >_< Quite expensive too, way overpriced for $40 spot. Site looks down here, can't buy anyhow haha
Thinking about it the Panda is getting expensive. When you start a set you want to complete it. But at $500+????? I'll save my ammo for proof dragons instead. Slam
Anyone else getting an evil vibe off the koala? Kind of sick of pandas however polar bear rhino and tiger would be interesting to see - sorry ranga I see one on the news to much to be interested. Won't get them though - If I want animal coins I can get bullion ones alot cheaper than this and ships don't float my boat
