Despite assuring customers that they would announce before doing so, it now seems the Mint has begrudingly admitted it is minting more of the 1oz Mouse after a German supplier bulk ordered. From the Perth Mint Bullion site, Stephen Ward of the Perth Mint confirms their reminting:

    David.M. says:
Hi Stephen, can you let us know where the 2008 Mouse 1oz silver coins currently being sold have been sourced? Are they being minted? From Mint storage? Buy-backs? Thanking you.

    February 10 2011

    Stephen Ward says:
    Hi David

We can still make the 2008 1oz Lunar Mouse as we have not reached the full mintage. We have a wholesale customer in Germany who recently ordered the coins - please see Silber-Corner for further information.

    Regards

    Stephen

Of course they are minting them, as I alone have said here at least 3 times, this is a standard practice. They can do so and they do so all the time.

What p!ssed me off is the deceit ! On 7 February this question was asked of the Perth Mint:

    David.M. says:
Thank you for your reply. If the Mint were to begin producing more of the earlier series II coins, will this be announced by the mint at the time of the decision. ie. before the coins are actually minted? Or will there not be any announcement? Thank you again for your prompt replies. By the way, the RAM doesnt haven't anywhere near the excellent communication/information/blog that the Perth Mint has here.

And this was their reply on Feb 8th:

    Ron Currie says:
    Hi David M

Thanks for your positive comments about the blog, which we will use to announce any decision to make earlier Series II Lunars if and when it arises.

    Regards

    Ron

2 days later the Perth Mint are selling them to suppliers. On the 8th THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY MINTED SEVERAL THOUSAND but chose to keep the facade going that they were considering minting more coins. They also promised to make an announcement about minting more of the 1oz lunar Mouse BUT NO ANNOUNCEMENT made.

Its just deceitful that's all and that's really my point.

It's not deceitful. They are well within their right to mint upto the declared mintage. They also are not OBLIGATED to inform you of such action due to the fact the mintage hasn't been reached.

These are BULLION coins which you choose to consider as numismatic.

Consider yourself lucky that the PM creates beautiful bullion rather than the ugly ASE!

Will they be sold at the same price as the rabbits or like $90?

Same price as rabbits, or maybe even cheaper, since rabbits have reached 300k limit.

    Not a big numi buyer.

    This is one reason.

Give me Bullion Bars any day.

Not to say the coins are not very pretty.

Yes these guys did exactly the same thing as Steve with the mouse Luna, only about a week behind & slightly higher price than Steve was offering.
