I must be turning into an old stacker as the yawn factor increases with each Perth Mint release.
The other half still likes the Opal series (which I lothe) so he may pick one of them up, but it will cost him more than issue price as I have my sites set on a 10oz Koala. (tit for tat and all that). I just love those doopey looking Aussie critters.

    2011 and 2012 back-issues pending!

    So what's happened to the standard 5oz Proof Koala (2011 and 2012)? No 2013 5oz proof. :(

Looks as if Perth have dumped the standard 5oz Proof Koala for the High Relief coin.

    Collectors must be very confused with Perth's dis-continuity! :| :| :|

He's still on Youtubeland, with his videos. I think he got the shyts with SS after a few people criticised his videos without them appearing to know he was a SS member. I think that as te time he disappeared was about the same time he got criticism. Who knows.

I bite the bullet and sold them at cost... even that was difficult to achieve. I had to offer the buyer some other good coins at a lower price to entice them to buy it.... Don't waste your time on ebay with this as it is extremely difficult to compete with powercoin and others as they too trying to dump the coins...

you would figure people know he is getting commision from Perth mint to push their products...All his videos have the same theme "this coin will sell out so fast and you can make double of it right away... wait, look, I didn't know there are pre-sale of this item already for this price. I would expect it to sell out within minutes of its release"

Unfortunatel, for a lot of newbies, they don't know any better and fall for it

    Hear hear.

NEVER again numismatic boxes from Perth. If there is a nice looking coin i want, i will await the dumping prices in Europe.

And first see how many versions, colours and sets they'll make of a specific coin.

    I bought one :)

Guess I will have to learn my own lesson if what you guys say comes true.
I figured if I can pay $100 for a kiwi, kangaroo at sunset or h/r coin then why not.
It seems it could be a very special lump of silver eh?

Well, you purchased the first High Relief 5oz Proof Koala.

The standard 5oz Proof Koala is not going to be made any more so enjoy your new coin.

I'm not sure how the 2013 5oz proof fits into a collection but... don't forget the 2011 and 2012 standard 5oz proofs, they're very nice as-well.

Only 300 of the 2011 - 5oz Proofs in their unique packaging were released in Australia. :)

The first h/r coin larger than 1 oz right?!

Wow, I had no idea about the mintage of the previous 5oz koala proofs. I see no reason why the Perth Mint would not make a regular 5oz proof.
This will be my first 5 oz'er other than the ATB's (America The Beautiful) that I collect. I had my finger on the trigger of the colored dragon from last year but I never clicked. Then I drew a 100mm circle the size of the kilo dragon to see how big it would look but... no clicky lol I own no colored coins, yet. I do like the dragon design tho. In red. The only lunar coin I own is the 1oz h/r dragon. I doubt I will get the snake.
