Was watching Looper last night and saw a fat roll of Yuan being bought with Silver. I have been thinking about it all day and was wondering what you guys thought about buying Yuan as a speculation. Australian dollar is strong at the moment and the Yuan from what I can tell is being purposely undervalued? I was thinking about exchanging some Australian notes for Chinese notes. If/when China becomes the global economy are they likely to trash the Yuan and start again, or would it be better for them to keep what they have.
Yep, I'm a big believer (and user) in the Yuan/RMB. I think it is currently undervalued, and in the future will be worth much much more. I don't think they will trash the Yuan.
Maybe thats the way to go? Wonder how hard it is to get hold of some! Will ask at the bank next time I'm in town. Regards Errol 43
I buy USD and have two USD bank accounts,i would consider buying YUAN as i think sooner or later our dollar will drop as the US economy gets stronger, might take a while but my money is in the bank only attracting 2.5 percent. Post Office might be able to help me with Cash
I think it's a massive gamble. China has shown it is not adverse to printing like a boss. Google 'china stimulus'. Plus they are buying up gold in off-market transactions, so who knows what they have already set in motion with their currency. China = opaque.
I don't think it's risky move, I think moving towards the Yuan is wise. (Better to be owed money [i.e. China], than to be owing money [i.e. USA]) China's paper stimulus is an appropriate response towards the US QE stimulus. Yep, China is buying up gold like they have gold fever - which indicates that they have gold (and hence a growing reserve). But no one really knows if the US even has any more gold left in the Fort.
Renimbi, arguably the most over supplied currency on Earth at the moment (and yes I did consider the $USD)
+1. Chinese currency is even more manipulated than anything else. Even though the fundamentals seem to shout BUY the "market" is waaay too rigged and risky IMHO.
Hmmm a mixed bag of ideas. These are some of the things I was thinking as well. As I said it would be more of a speculation (gamble) than just stacking. Thanks for the ideas all.
I think its got a long way to go in on the upside but i think we are talking decades not something anytime soon. I think in the mid term your still better off with USD.
I'm thinking in the next 1-2 years, one day we'll wake up, and the USD will have depreciated 25%-50% to the RMB. In any event, I agree with shiney, gold and silver are probably better investment instruments.
