Origin's on and because I'm not able to talk while it's on I may as well do something else.

Have been thinking lately bout the best things to have for not only SHTF items but products that are long lasting, alternative and do the same or better than regular items.

    Currently I have a few:

    - Rainwater tank only 5000L and has been full for the last 6 months

    - Everything we use for camping - gas, solar showers, water storage, led lights, batteries, solar panel, inverter, 3 way fridge, air pots (hot water storage) - wondering how long we could last with this

    - Crystal Deodorant - around 8 bucks, I have had the current stick for about 8 months. May not be essential but ladies sure appreciate no BO

    - Laundry wash balls - long lasting - but not for long term use - an off smell seems to develop - alternating with supermarket product

    - I have pigeon peas growing http://www.tropicalpermaculture.com/pigeon-pea.html

    - sprouter for seeds

    - lots of seeds stored

    I'm sure I have more

Kyle: You don't wash your hands after going to the bathroom?
    Stan: Not... all the time!
    Kyle: That is gross!
Stan: Why? It's not like you're peeing on your hands. There's more germs on most furniture then there is in pee.
Butters: Yeah. If anything you should wash your hands before you touch your wiener.

Put a silver coin in the water container to purify the water.

That worries me - silver might have anti-bacterial properties, but that doesn't mean that it will actually purify water. It won't remove impurities even if it does kill some bacteria.

During the great plagues in Europe, the peasants died in the millions, but the nobility by and large survived, and not just through self imposed isolation. Apparently, I have been told recently, it was because they used to drink from silver goblets which killed most of the bubonic germs. True or not, there appears to be something to it.

Get yourself some bushtucker food and medicine book's, there is a chemist and grocery stall just down the road for everyone if they know where to look, maybe even in your own back yard. Get yourself some oldtime recipies for the local wildlife, Skippy and friends kept many alive back in the day.

Go and start feeding the local pigeons and ducks in a nearby park, they might pay back the favour sometime , take note of local springs or clean mountain fed creeks in your area , orchards, fruit tree's, etc.

There is lots of stuff you dont need to store, just how to use.
