Labour's share of GDP is at it's lowest for decades cf corporate profits are at their highest over the same period. Trillions go to corporate welfare via the screwed up sick care system which is designed to produce profits for providers rather than outcomes, via the military-industrial complex and wars of empire. Heck, the whole economy is structured to manipulate markets for the benefit of entrenched corporate interests. The political system is basically a symbiosis between corporate lobbyists and politicians who have no hope of being elected without their corporate backers and their donations. Socialized losses and privatized profits? A gap between the rich and poor which is the biggest in the developed world... Sorry, it doesn't sound particularly socialist to me.
I think alot of policemen are blood-thirsty megalomaniac psychos they joined the force to feel the rush of power which is very intoxicating. They simply looooved being in riot situations, it gives them a chance to exercise their power and authority freely. Naturally (and unfortunately I may add) people with megalomaniac tendency attracted to these positions of power and authority such as policemen, soldiers and politicians.
does anyone here remember the police riots at the Springbok games in Melbourne. Utter brutality, akin to the police riots in Chicago in 1968. The police are the arm of the State and they behave as the State wishes them too.
I agree with you. But there are large elements of socialism involved where money is being doled out basically to placate the sheeple into accepting and supporting the status quo.
Some friends in NYC were quite startled when they discovered during Guliani's 'slum clean up', that NYPD also has a tank!
live stream of the protest for anyone interested. Wind sometimes disrupts the sound http://www.livestream.com/globalrevolution
http://www.occupytogether.org/ OCCUPY TOGETHER, an unofficial hub for all of the events springing up across the country in solidarity with Occupy Wall St. They may not be particularly organised, or know what it is they are protesting for, but lets remember that a fruit merchant in Tunisia is widely credited for being the catalyst for regime change in Egypt and the spread of similar movements in the wider Middle East. They only need to be a catalyst to wake up the majority, and Wall Street is something they can all focus their attention on without being labelled 'un-American' or 'a terrorist' etc.
The Arab Spring was organised in America long before it happened and was well orchestrated over many platforms including our very own U.N candidate, it will be a cold day in hell before drones are flying over New York.
The lack of a clear goal is what concerns me too. People may be supporting this not knowing of the true intentions of the originator. i can see a dictator rising up out of the fog for this reason. Deja vu anyone?
