I noticed the bush fires in sydney a month ago and it's still on-going! This kind of haze can be deadly for people with cardio problems. Take care!

P2 mask from Bunnings is the requisite protection.

With the exception of a few days here and there, it's been smokie in NW Sydney going on the last 2 months.

Damn....them good pics of the extent of the fires.

Was driving along the ridge line in NW Sydney today that looks over the Sydney basin towards the Blue Mountains. Could see the multiple plumes smoke coming from the fires around Colo way and beyond.

A long time ago...just part of the Australia bush and fire cycle. May have been mitigated some if back burning in prior years had been more prevalent.

That sounds worse then where I am. You past Blacktown, Castle Hill?

A few weeks ago Blacktown hospital filled up with smoke inside. Must of left the air vents for outside open, not good for the sick people there.

Agreed this looks bad and is but every ten years or so, we have big fires that ravage Sydney / outer metro - rural areas.

In early 90's and again 2001-2, fire ringed Sydney, no roads passable in or out of Sydney, same for trains and given the geography of Sydney (north of the harbour) which is covered with bushland, national / state parks etc fire can and does rip into suburban Sydney and even within 5-7 k's of the CBD. I remember a o/s news service publishing a doctored pic showing the Harbour Bridge on fire at the time.

Bush fires ain't great to live through but it's part of the ecology of Australian bush.

you need to get with the program. Bush fires have never happened before and are only happening now due to global warming. :p

they are only around the center of the universe- sydney. amazing how much coverage something gets or doesn't get depending on whether it affects a capital city or not.
the other one that gets me is the 3 min weather report with 10 seconds at the end saying, "oh, yeah and there's a category 4 cyclone up north somewhere"
