NGC asks for following: 1. 3 copies of the filled out form 2. marking each individual coins with row number of the form Do you always do this ? What about if you are sending a sheet of 10 coins, or what if all the coins are same ? Thanks!
Fill out all ten lines every time no matter what. Always retain a copy--make sure you sign the one you are sending
Thanks But do you individually mark each of 10 connected coins in a sheet with number of rows or that is not necessary when all are same ?
My understanding is if the coins are the exact same you can just use 1 line and put the Qty. , but you may want to check with ngc
Have you tried this ? I want to hear from someone with tried and tested experience. My question is two fold: When all coins are exactly same, 1. Is separate line needed for each ? 2. More importantly, do I need to annotate each coin separately on the coin pouch ? Thanks!
Thanks! How about my second query : did you mark those same coins with stickers indicating the row numbers ?
Hi Shibaji, I have done it many times ,no, a separate line is not needed ,and no you don't have to mark every coin, i normally do try to bundle like coins together for shipment........... just mark in the column to the left on NCS form the number and in the notes section also ,i will try to down load an actual picture of a recent submitted form that I received back from NGC
So far as I understand it submissions in OMP are preferred, they remove them free of charge... one of our members can confirm that's true.
Hi Shibaji! I recently sent in 7 of the same year/type silver pandas. All in OMP sealed pouch with hard plastic capsule. No charge for removing the coins from OMP. I did list each on separate line, but then I called NGC and was told I did not have to. Oh well. You actually now own a medal sent in from that same set of submissions to NCS/NGC! --dave
Wow this seems very expensive to have them grade coins. I figured it was something like $20/each and its tough to read your invoice from the scan but $1,700 to grade a lot of coins seems outrageous to me...am i missing something here? I really want to grade a few coins i bought mainly pandas, Morgans, & a couple Rabbits...is it better to submit more coins at a time or is the price the same if you grade them a few at a time? Thanks, Silverbulldog
That is the total value of the coins to be declared for insurance purpose. The cost per coin is more like $26 each (NCS+NGC) and $16 for NGC only. Plus, registered and insured shipping + packaging. I think it comes well over $30 per coin with all these. It is better to send in bulk to share these associated costs.
The most important fixed cost is shipping. The others are for coin 26,50 ncs/ngc. With my experiences they became 50 uss for coin with coin in home 10 or 20 coins each time.
A point to consider relative to the therad... sending batches of 3 or 4 or more similar coins is solid submission theory in my opinion. Emperor Badon lists his same year/type of coins on seperate lines to try and influence grading i.e. list your coins in quality from poorest to best in your opinion because they are graded sequentially apparently. Not saying it definitely does but it may help a little to score some good grades.
I agree with a good portion of that if you send in 10 or 12 high value coins of the same type and they are of high quality ,you run the risk IMHO of then kicking some that they might have graded 69 singularly to 68...................... I try to separate 10 or 12 like coins into 2 batches and ship them on different days.who knows the separate line theory?????? worth a try ,cant hurt................
