Hee hee yup...I had to carry it for half a block looking for a cab in peak hour!

Yeah I think I will cut them out and keep the coins in my safe deposit box in the bank. The environment in the bank might be more stable although I will still put some anti-moisture packs with the coins. I will keep the trays just in case I have that picky buyer who's trying to negotiate a better price for lack of a tray! But I guess an extra seal is good no?

Lol. Good conclusion. You guys are very regular forum users!

    Ok will do.

Hey Hey HKPanda! Congratz on the Monster Box! :)

Glad to have you around... yep, I would certainly recommend getting the Pricepedia, the Panda Book (Peter Anthony) and Mr. Ge's book too.

    Congratz again! :)

    Hi HKPanda,

Welcome, welcome. I am from Hong Kong too and just started collecting Pandas. Wow, you started with a Big Bang with a monster box. Good for you. Yes, I visited the shop you mentioned just last week. I am are you know by now that you receive a slightly better discount from them if you pay by cash.

You will learn alot from this forum and you will find friendly and very helpful panda people like Yennus, Fishball, etc. Don't be afraid or shy to ask any questions - there are many members here who are willing to advise or point us in the right direction.

Bah...I just found one cracked capsule in one of the trays while wrapping up the coins for storage. Will call the shop in the morning - let's hope there's after sales service! Worse case scenario I hope they still these plastic capsules. I just noticed they're not airtight so I better get some of them anti-moisture thingy too!

I personally don't think a cracked capsule is a big issue, especially after such a large purchase... but then again... some people really really care...

I have started protecting my capsules from usual wear and tear after someone started complaining that a capsule of mine had scratches on it. Like this:

Hopefully it all goes well for you.

... the capsule is a coin protector... I now have to use a zip lock bag to protect the coin protector... I also need to use bubble wrap to protect the coin protector protector.

Just ask them to exchange the broken capsule or get a replacement coin.

If they don't do it, you can always buy a capsule from somebody like Maggie.

I had a few busted pandas back in my day, rolls of phillies and takus crushed my poor individual pandas :p

On the topic of scratched capsules, some buyers do care but I don't see why either, it's just a 30 cents piece of plastic haha. But I keep all my coins, including capsules scratch free :)

Yep, 1oz Pandas (both gold and silver) are in demand. :)

$1640 is also super super cheap! I want 1oz Pandas at that price! :)

I swapped the whole tray containing my cracked capsule, no questions asked. :)

Someone was asking about 2011 Gold Pandas - I asked the manager and she said completely sold out.

They still have 2011 Silver Pandas but will struggle to put together a monster box (something about having to call every branch/distributor including Taiwan for every coin) so the price may differ because they will use the price for trays of 30 coins instead. Cheeky me asked if I can still get the same price if I bought a few more on top of the ones I just bought and she said she had to check with her manager first. :) 2012 Pandas will come out next month and will apparently be around the same price as the 2011 Pandas I just bought if not more.

Yeah, 1oz gold and 1oz silver are usually the most popular... time to dig for fractionals :)

You can be reasonably sure that APMEX will only be selling the common BUs under the random years.

But still, you might make $100 or so on the grading game if they grade at 69.

Yeah, looks a little suspicious when they are selling the same year for much much more.

If you are willing to wait a few weeks, I might be able to get some 1oz 2011s for $1700AUD (a little bit cheaper than the APMEX price of $1923).
