I've never bought a numismatic coin before, but I really like the look of the Gilded Fiji Double Taku 1oz. Silver Coin. Not because I expect it to be a good investment; it would just be nice to look at :)

I just happened to check if there were any for sale on eBay and was surprised at how many have been sold (searching expired listings) by US coin dealers for less than what it costs to buy directly from NZ Mint, and that includes shipping back to NZ! Is NZ Mint just taking the piss with their retail pricing?

My house guest just told me that he can buy the same Australian wine (Yellowtail Merlot) in England cheaper than we can buy it in Australia, go figure.

Edit: And they have VAT (GST) tax at 20%, 10% more tax than we pay on it

Well these I can sort of understand, if the dealer buys them in bulk and gets the volume discounts. I only buy one coin from PM so I pay full retail. The dealer can pass some of the discount on.
