Hey everyone new member here and new to PM in general. Got slightly burnt on the recent silver rise but have been trying to dollar cost average down now. Can I get some advice: - what is the best way to build up a decent stackers collection? Bars I think but what size? Are 1kg useful? Does it matter what brand? - is it worth placing a backorder with the perth mint right now? Prices seem reasonable though I know their insurance is horrendous. - I am also on the lookout for 1oz gold lunars if anyone would like to part with them.... Thanks!
Welcome somerset, happy stacking. Just remember that you are first and foremost saving/investing in silver, not jewellery. Keep it simple. Basic bars and coins move closest with spot. Fancy pants coins are less likely to do so as much. This truly ain't rocket science. A simple stack is easier to keep track of against paper currency. Stacking with themes in mind can assist in accumulation too though. Do what fits your personality!... and accumulate.
hello somerset. welcome to the forum. may you have many long nights with us. I'm going to give you a free history lesson. I assume you live on the gold coast. Did you know when i was young and growing up in Brisbane, we never said, "Hey, we're going to the Gold Coast this weekend". We always said, "Hey, we're going to the coast this weekend." If we were going to the sunshine coast we'd say, "Hey, we're going up the coast this weekend." If we were going to Byron or Ballina we'd say, "Hey, we're going to the north coast this weekend." We certainly never said, "Hey, we're going to the goldie this weekend", shudder, cringe, quiver. You can imagine my surprise when about 15 years ago I first heard the term "the Goldie"!! I went "What? In my day we never called it the Goldie!" So anyway, if you want to change your location to "gold coast" - I would be for ever grateful. Cheers mate.
Ok Rule # 1.Never get Amnesia Rule #Damm! Riddlebuck RUDEDUDE REDBLACK..Ahhhhh REDBACK Welcome my friend!!
^^^ hehe Welcome somerset. Just one question if you dont mind. How can you have been 'burnt' a little bit by silver lately and be asking questions regards what bars to buy.
Hahaha mmm....shiney! - I will change my location to the proper name. I have just moved from NSW and I thought that was what the locals called it! I am also pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of people here. Hi THUCYDIDES79 - to answer your question, I only thought coins were worth collecting being shiny and designs etc - that is the collector in me. I also bought them from the Perth Mint near the height of the rise and was not aware of dealers around - blame my ignorance. Bars in my mind were not worth it (for some reason)... now I understand what is going on... I will be getting more bars... Another question - when buying from the Perth Mint, do you guys normally take insurance? I found it quite expensive....
