Hi All, I am new to PM and this forum. Never been interested in gold or silver. But on my last trip to Thailand I bought 1 small bar of gold(1baht, around 15.2g.). That got me interested in gold. So I am planning to do some research and hopefully in time extend my small collection. Cheers.
How much per gram did they charge for the gold in Thailand? I have thought about buying gold there but I just don't trust them 100%! Have seen many tourists get rippeed off there.
Welcome from a fellow Melbournian and also a new SS (Silver Stackers- not to be confused with the Nazi paramilitary organization or the commodore club) member.
If you buy from reputable shop you should be OK. They sell gold 96.5%purity in baht. Baht is a unit of weight measurement about 15.24g and tied up to the price of spot gold. You pay spot plus commission around $10 for one baht of gold, up to $30 if you buy jewelry. If you sell you get spot minus $4 per baht. Put it another way if you buy and sell at the same spot price you lose 1.5-2% for commission.
Welcome, I still have some zoty left over from my trip to Warszawa - my friend works for the Museum of Modern Art there (or at least did in 2013)
It was great- nice to be able to have a few ubrwka down by the river with live bands and not have to worry about horrible bouncers or police or getting fined for walking with drinks etc. and all the fresh berries at 1/10th the price here.
