I've just come back from the local markets where i picked up 10 old NG shillings with a hole in the middle. Does anyone know much about these coins?
That's a good link. Sterling silver (.925), relatively common. At 0.157 troy oz ASW there's about 7 to an ounce. Spot value today is $5.54 each.
thanks mate, cool little site now in my favs! I reccon I'll keep my eye out for a few more, have seen some on feebay but they asking more than double what i paid for these . . . . usuall story on the bay.
thanks GP I paid $3.50 for some and $4 for others in old ratty 2x2 ... old stock i spose ...... I love a bargain
I picked up a few more of these after talking to you about them the other week kilo. Its been hard to find them under spot, as most people I have found with them know what they are worth. I did grab a couple the other day at $5 a pop, but thats not exactly a big win.
hi Jas $5 sounds ok as GP pointed out $5.54 is spot so your still under by 10%. I have had a look around for mintage numbers 1935 2.1 million still looking for the rest. I really like them, will keep buying them while i can get them at a good price
Yeah definitely still under spot, just not as much under as I would like I will keep buying them when I see them as well, especially since one of the girls that lives with me took a liking to them... might have to give one or two as a gift Considering the high mintage im thinking there has to be someone out there with bags and bags of these suckers, now just to find them.
