Anyone establishing any positions with companies planning projects in Africa? The middle class is set to boom there in the coming decades.

Apparently there are some 170 Australian companies with links to projects in Africa. I’d be keen to also get on board with some US stocks too.

There are 54 countries in Africa. East, West, North, South. Where are you thinking? The idea has merit.

Whenever I hear news like that about developing countries and rising middle class I get interested in watching their currency.

I thought they were in trouble when they started chasing out and murdering white farmers.

I'll be watching the African Rand.

Alot of these Aust companies would be junior miners / exploration companies (penny stocks). Being a foreign company doing business is fraught with issues and danger. The big multinational companies have the wherewithal (ie cash and connections) to "work through local issues and customs" but many others get burnt.

Do your research well. Good luck.

I have only one candidate for that purpose; Nestle. Seems to be doing well in developing countries. Swiss witholding tax is a pain though.

Coming from a mineral exploration, mining and mineral processing background I can say that is 100% accurate, particularly in SA
Bribery, blackmail, corruption, extortion, murder, kidnapping... It's a not a great place to do business. And there's heaps of juniors giving it a go.

There’ll be an economic revolution there in the coming decades. The rise of an affluent middle class and all the associated societal changes and technological advances that come with increased wealth. It’s the last mass population left to be dragged into prosperity. It’ll also mean a rise in living standards for non-Africans.

    Keep it in mind.

My first foray will be buying a gold explorer. After that I’ll have no money left to spend, so I’ll have time to research something else.
