If memory serves, they don't really go into circulation until after the day they're commemorating, so either ANZAC day in April or Armistice day in November.

    Nice looking coin.

Downies ? Thanks for that. I'll check them out.

Just got a 'targeted' email from Macquarie Mint.
They seem to be selling the single coin in the glossy folder for $10.
Their advert. says, minted by RAM ...

Why does RAM 'need' MM to distribute for them ?

It gets confusing, when you see what looks like an official RAM wrapper on the above roll, when it allegedly comes from a private business ??

How can you tell, if a roll ( with THAT pattern wrapper ) is a genuine RAM roll ... or a private 'business' has rolled it ???

Some private businesses (dealers) buy mint rolls. The RAM doesn't go out of its way to market the rolls as collectibles so the dealers have to take their own photos of them or use Photoshop to create an "artist's impression" of what the roll will look like since there aren't any official press pack photos.

Other businesses roll their own using non-RAM paper.

I have seen the $15 "C" mintmark in a folder for sale on the RAM site https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/Lest-We-Forget/311264.aspx
I was told that Downies were selling a $10 non mintmarked coin in a folder.

I am not sure if the RAM would be allowed to sell production coins in a production roll. They can sell fancy packaging and proofs for extortionate amounts of money etc. but ordinary circulating coins being sold for above face value might cause them legal issues? No idea but the last lot of circulating coins to come out from thew RAM were all at face value and they just stung you for $10 postage.

Everything that comes in a retail packet is ridiculously expensive, anything in a bag is face value.

They have probably made a deal with Downies to supply rolls at face value plus postage and Downies get to make the profit.

I would imagine that Macquarie Mint have bought a load of the $10 folders for resale, no idea why they are not for sale at the RAM webshop.

They might turn up in some post offices.

I would imagine that any rolls or bags which get sent out will be grabbed by the cashiers and will only be available on eBAy.

Mmmmm, I'm thinking there is opportunity to double & maybe triple your investment with the 'rolls'.

Look at the 'ANZAC' $2. roll history ...

    Gold Poppy - about $350. / roll
    Red Poppy - about $450. / roll.
    Green Ring - about $250. / roll.
    Red Ring - about $150. / roll.
    Orange Ring - about $100. / roll.

( Security rolls worth less than RAM rolls )

The 'Olympic' rolls are a different story ...

No doubt, there will be plenty of people who miss the boat and want a roll later on.

I am not bothering though. I have bought around 18 of the 5 packs from the RAM.

I will sell them to the coin club members at $3 each, making a hefty profit of 33 cents per coin which will go to the club anyway.

I will put anything that doesn't sell into a draw and leave them there along with all the Anniversary of Decimal Coinage bags.

At the moment they are easy to get hold of and people are still excited by the novelty of coloured coins, I would imagine that by the time the RAM has finished flooding us with coloured coins the novelty will wear off, particularly as few of these are ever likely to circulate, I think my entire family have only managed to pull 2 or 3 coloured $2 out of circulation.

I think that is the plan, however if the distribution is anything like the previous attempts it is likely that most will go directly onto eBay as soon as the cashiers see them in the till. There is a lot of money to be made in selling the coins rather than giving them out in change and not much in the way of oversight stopping them.

Same here, I only just noticed them myself so I went back and ordered a whole load more.

I am sure I looked through everything before I ordered so maybe they were only just added. That is what I am telling myself.

Is worth to buy the roll since only 5,000 rolls? Or just mint bags are fine?

As per Downies website, they are now sold out of the rolls.
