I dont know if we allowed to post links to our personal blogs or not - so if not then mods please remove.

I am a complete newbie at detecting so the blog will begin from the absolute beginning with me unboxing my new detector and continuing through my frustrations and experiences with the hope of finding something valuable one day.

I have also created forums mainly for South African detectorists but all are welcome.

Hey pushingtin, I have recently started a prospecting and fossicking forum www.prospectingaustralia.com.au, we have a few experienced guys on there that might be able to give you some good advice. We are also planning a few trips over Christmas and in the new year.

Hi Squiggles, your forums are of similar nature to mine and I would certainly join up if I were living in Australia.

Good luck with your new site.

Had a look and a read. Uncluttered, easy on the eyes. Good job indeed!

Tell me, is it safe to detect on SA beaches, considering the amount of crime we hear about? I take it you won't be wearing headphones in order to watch your back.

Also i seem to recall you're from the Cape, there must be some nice long lost dutch coins waiting to be found.

SA must be virgin ground for detectorists if there isn't even a forum. That's great for you mate!

Thanks for taking the time to have a look and thanks for the feedback :)

Well, I havent actually had a chance to get to the beach to detect yet but yes I am sure it will be safe enough... I will try the safer beaches in the better areas if I am alone.

Ideally I would like to get a rottweiler dog at some stage, that will be a nice companion and personal security guard :p

Yip, I am hoping there will be lots of finds awaiting me...

Of course, but just like Silver Stackers my site specialises in a particular topic which appeals to a certain audience. I'm pretty sure we can co-exist :)
