    Something to watch out for.

I have milk spots on a 2015 Kookaburra silver kilo coin. Not something I've seen on a Perth Mint coin before.

    Thanks for posting.

Too many issues lately with PM, it seems..

I was prepping a few coins for long-term storage today, and noticed the center of my 2014 Stock Horse is suffering from the same fate as this..

I've got a lousy camera, but you get the jist. Same low-angle thing in certain lighting, and all that, which I believe in my case is die fatigue.

Not to mentioned my jacked-up but lovable 10-oz 2014 Funky Koala.

    Sux about the kilo.

Ouch. That is not good. I hope we don't now have to start razzing the Perth Mint about 'white snow.' Geesh. On a positive note, it is one of the reasons I bought quite a few kilos, is due to their low cost per ounce over spot, so if poop like this happens to the coin, at least I'm not out a ton on the premium. Whereas if this happened to the stock horse or 1 oz lunar. yikes. now that would suck.

Maybe the Perth Mint acquired in the past few years some consultants on silver bullion coin production from the Royal Canadian Mint? :)

I could try one of these on it to buff out the spots:

These days, I think it would be better to ask which recent coins *don't* get milk-spots..

This is so true. The Canadian mint sort of got a reputation for them but I am seeing them on coins I have acquired over the last year from Mexico, China, Britain and Australia. Spotting is a giant problem that I cannot believe more attention is not being paid to by the mints and third party graders. I think it has the potential to dramatically harm the hobby. Who wants to see their premium metal lose it premium when the dreaded spot arrives?

This is one of many reasons I sold almost all my silver, and switched to gold!

Add to it: ASE's, Philharmonics, Somalia Elephants, etc.

I'm sure I'm leaving some out.

Oddly enough, I've got some "branded" generics that are fine!

The obvious solution is a series of cow coins. The more milk spots, the higher the premium.

Maybe with the rise of fakes milk spots will be sort after as an almost security marking. Otherwise I don't really mind them, it's no biggy
