Oh golly, yet more unfounded climate change hyperventilation.

    1) "....yet the photos weren’t actually of the fires and many weren’t even of the Amazon. The photo Ronaldo shared was taken in southern Brazil, far from the Amazon, in 2013. The photo that DiCaprio and Macron shared is over 20 years old. The photo Madonna and Smith shared is over 30. Some celebrities shared photos from Montana, India, and Sweden."

    2) I was curious to hear what one of the world’s leading Amazon forest experts, Dan Nepstad, had to say about the “lungs” claim.
“It’s bullshit,” he said. “There’s no science behind that. The Amazon produces a lot of oxygen but it uses the same amount of oxygen through respiration so it’s a wash.” ... “The Amazon produces a lot of oxygen, but so do soy farms and [cattle] pastures.”

    3) One of Brazil’s leading environmental journalists agrees that media coverage of the fires has been misleading. “It was under [Workers Party President] Lula and [Environment Secretary] Marina Silva (2003-2008) that Brazil had the highest incidence of burning,” Leonardo Coutinho told me over email. “But neither Lula nor Marina was accused of putting the Amazon at risk.”

What about the scientists that have concluded contrary to "settled science" and been proven right?

    Good post.

Was reading this earlier on. Love the misguided media and celeb hype....10-20 year old pics...LMAO I did.

I recommend to all to read the article in full.

I think it's 3% of scientists? Anyway, the reason is probably that their "research" is funded by big coal and oil.

I think the point was it only takes one scientist (hence, truth is not discovered by voting) to prove everyone else wrong. That's the nature of science. What is sad is that human minds are programmed to accept group beliefs - as famously demonstrated by Asch conformity experiments.

It's smart to understand it's also biased with "research" of the proponents of anthropomorphic climate change, their "research" is funded by parties that want to tax and control us more.

"But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy…One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy any more.”

—Ottmar Edenhofer, Co-chair of IPCC WG III, New American, Nov. 19, 2010

It makes me sick continuing to hear "grown men" believing in the dribble down lie of "climate change" these people are 100% fools in my eyes  real mummies boys

When I think of "climate change believers" I think of words like -

    # Pathetic

    # Weak

    # Easily led

    # Sooks

    # Tragic

    # Not men

    # A joke

    # Part of the problem

    # Clueless

    # Sucked in

I have some advice for them - WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent post. In simplistic terms we could easily deduce that a mature ecosystem it neither taking or adding resources as it is essentially static in biomass.

Hadn’t thought of it like that.

    Planting trees would be beneficial

Quote - To be clear, when a tree is planted up on deforested land, it absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and locks it away biomass.

Let’s the Brazilians deal with their own situation and let us get on with improving our own backyard.

In responding to Europe’s offer of funds to help fight the fires in Brazil there was this comment.

“We appreciate (the offer), but maybe those resources are more relevant to reforest Europe,” Onyx Lorenzoni, chief of staff to President Jair Bolsonaro, told the G1 news website.

    Edit with more detailed quote

Except that ecosystems are not static. Which has important impacts on how we manage our environmental resources namely that as ecosystems are dynamic and whilst they have a tendency toward equilibrium at times, there is no climax, there is no natural state where all the ecological players in an environment are in balance with each other, that a pristine wildernesses actually doesn't exist anywhere and that every square-inch of the environment on the planet has altered over the millennia. Policy makers must accept this in order for us to move on if we are to hope to manage our environments more effectively.

The abstract of the following article provides a brief explanation of this increasingly accepted theory (yes and I'm hoping @JulieW can put aside her anti-theory bias briefly ;) ) . Essentially the article attempts to argue the similarity between ecological and economic systems.

    https://www.perc.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/JLEconPolyAndersonDynamicEnvironmentalism.pdf

And of course the rational optimist is tasked with offering an alternative solution to our current static policies. Fortunately Emma Marris is there to help, The Rambunctious Garden

    Not another "theory"!!

    :D:D:D

p.s. I quit economics after a year since it was pure theory - assume everyone has $5 a week and the sun is shining and then this theory will work. :p
