I reached a milestone today completing my 2oz set for the series II coins. The mouse was a painful buy. Anyone who has a few of these would be doing well. Heres a pic of the 1 and 2 oz sets.....
Congrats on completing the series. Personally I started out investing in silver purely for it's intrinsic value as a store of wealth and nothing else. However the closer I get to my goal stack size, the more I gain an appreciation for coins with numeristic value and today I purchased some Kookaburra privy coins from the forum. I know these don't have much of a numeristic premium, but I'm excited about receiving. Who knows, maybe my next "numeristics" will be the Lunar series as they're damn fine looking coins
The 2oz 2008 Mouse goes for a joke of a price. I might be able to afford one if the Perth Mint goes and begins production of them again as only the 1oz are limited to a 300k limit and the 10kg I think 100 limit. All other sizes (including the 2oz) the Mint can go and strike any of the series 2 lunar series right up until the end of the Second series, scheduled to end in 2019 !
Hint for you guys, in EU 1oz Tigers are the most expensive right now, because they have supposedly reached their 300.000 mintage limit. Get them while they are cheap.
How much are they going for? Interesting they are expensive as a run of 300k would make it the most common of all the lunar coins by 3 fold after the 2000 dragon at 118k.
They are only or two more expensive than mouse and ox right now. But that will change. You can't really compare 2k dragon with this coin. This series is just beginning, everyone has a chance to complete it, there are many more silver investors today than in 2000. I think that the 300k limit is very small by todays standards.
Very nice!! I am just missing a 2oz mouse too. Anyone got one? I have a few spares of the others I can trade.
Nice pictures as always intelligencer. I am only doing the 1oz'ers...all the different types would drive me insane. I almost gave into the 2,1,1/2 sets, but thankfully I didn't. I tend to fall in love with coins easily and then get into the problem of not being able to think of ever selling ...which then manifests itself in having to buy TWO of everything so I can keep one. Staying focused on my mission of low average per ounce bullion stacking (not numi-stacking) is an ongoing battle. I am pathetic.
Well thanks to intelligencer, I couldn't help myself and also have a working progress on Series II Lunars. Only in 1 ounce though, I'm not made of money Apologies for the iphone quality picture... Source:
I must say I have a tremendous soft spot for these. I only just completed my 5oz series II a couple of weeks ago. A 2oz mouse sold on ebay recently for over $250US!
Intelligencer, I'm sure there's an S&M dungeon in 'the Valley' or somewhere that will cater for your newly aquired sick desire for self abuse...and it's gotta be cheaper than this coin collecting lark I thought you said you had a new hobby(ish) ?
I need the 5 oz ox to complete my 5 ozers. If anyone has one to sell PM me. I can also swap for tiger.
Really nice work there they all look sweeet. So it appears that just the bullion ones themselves are getting a premium anyway, so my question is, is it worth worrying about the Proofs, Gilded, Coloured as a set or just forget it. Will they loose their premium anyway ? I have been getting a Few proofs but seeing some of the prices it may not even be worth my while, just keep to bullion and pick up a premium anyway ? Nice pics everyone too
The 10 oz are indeed a lovely size. The biggest coin that easily fits in a hand. Love them. Each came from a different source, and it has been a real challenge to find them. Mouse: silveram - member here Ox: Gainesville coins many many months ago Tiger: Ebay Rabbit: Ainslie bullion Still need a few coins to have the full typesets of each year. The kilo ox would be the one I want most but will just have to wait till it comes along. I never thought I'd have so many of the mouse complete but it's amazing how a drought turns into a flood all of a sudden.
I'm waiting on the delivery of a half kilo mouse which I am very very happy with. Mintage of 738 only, and picked it up for a decent price with the recent decline in spot. Came onto the market at just the right time for me That will be my next scan. The 2008 mouse typeset 1/2oz, 1oz, 2oz, 5oz, 10oz, 1/2 kilo and kilo
