Were you trying to say that auctions for the 1 oz. s2 silver dragon on the forum are ending at $65/70? If so, ok, but I don't know what that has to do with gilded mintage limits or their long-term investment potential...
I think the bullion with 300.000 minted go to double spot at sold Out and estabilice at 1,5 spot a few weeks later with spot diping. The gilded 50.000 minted, the colourized 1 oz and 1/2 oz and the proofs go to 200 or more when they sold Out. I like too the baby Dragon at 4000 mintage. I buy 5 gilded, 2 x 1 oz colourized and 5 x 1/2 oz colourized and 1 typeset only to especulate. I save for my collection 1 x gilded and 1 oz colourized and 5 x 1 oz bullion (thanks maggie) The others i Will swap or sell when i think is godo time.
amazing considering they are freely available with free postage from the perth mint if you buy three or more http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...i-2012-year-of-the-dragon-gilded-edition.aspx
902 gilded left on the Perth Mint website, down from 1025 on Saturday. I think that they will be all gone within a fortnight
Dang with spot so low its hard to decide whether I should pick some of these up and and flip them around new year or not...In that timeframe plain old rounds or kooks could do much better.
Limited mintage, high demand. Price will move up with spot silver as well, and hold up better if silver slides.
And what was the mintage of the sold out 1oz dragon bullion coin? Sure the mintage is higher than the proofs, but I see some money to be made here within 6 months. 608 left at the mint
I'm bearish on the 1 oz. BU until supply dries up. Sold out? Maybe at the mint. They're available all over the forum and internet dealer sites, not to mention fleabay, etc. I recall people on here paying $100 per coin when first released, now they're going for $65-75 each. I actually think there are more sellers of 1 oz. BU dragons than buyers at the moment. Long-term it will of course be a winner...prices just got ahead of themselves at the start. I remain bullish on the Gilded. Not that anyone cares
heyimderrick, we all care otherwise we wouldn't be here Have started collecting the gilded series, still undecided whether they will be a long term profitable purchase though. On the one hand, previous sales have not been that good, all the previous lunars are still available at the mint, so that tells me they not that popular. But with the dragon mania, I think that could change, seems to be very much in demand and could spark an interest in the other gilded lunars. I suppose my theory is that it is better to get them when they are not that popular, because if they ever do take off then it will be near impossible to get them at a reasonable price - same with the coloured lunars, have been trying to get a couple of sets together, very hard to find them yet they seem not to be loved at all :/ Time will tell, the joy of numismatics - is a bit of a gamble as to whether they will take off or flop.
Im just sitting here waiting for them to sell out at the Perth Mint, then raise my sell thread for Gildeds (below). Will hopefully be able to raise again closer to CNY. 607
