Does anyone know if the Perth Mint is able to continue minting the 1oz silver gilded lunars up to the mintage limit of 50,000 or are the published mintages for the earlier years final? If so, I'm getting on the gilded coins because the earlier years have sales of just over 5,000. This is going to really limit the number of possible complete sets of these even if the dragon and all years from now on are fully minted.

Anyone know if the mintages are final?

Funny you mention this my brother is just starting stacking. I am trying to help him but he has been showing me up.
    2012 kooks for 37.06 ea
    10g gold certicards $550
And today said he bought gilded coins of all five lunars to date. When I asked why he said the same thing look at the mintage numbers of the earlier years. Wish I could take the credit but I think not.
But he did buy a gilded koala too lol. No love for the koalas.

I wouldn't rely on those mintage numbers. I have ones with a higher COA# than the listed number of sold coins.

OK Hiho what am I missing - I've looked a couple of times and can only see S1 info. I was asking about S2 mintage limits. I thought I remembered hearing from Ron Currie that once the year was finished, they would not go back and mint this type of coin but was just looking for clarification on this.

    Cheers

    Look here: http://www.perthmint.com.au/numismatic-mintages.aspx

Click on 2008 and 2009, and look under 'Collector Coins - Series Two' for each year. I guess they haven't published sales figures for 2010 (for both series 1 and series 2 tigers).

Can't speak to accuracy of these figures though, as I'm not sure about their policy on re-minting gilded coins.

That is very good to know. I think once everything else has reached it's limit the gilded will be revisited and minted up to 50,000. Maybe not though - demand would have to be there which up until now it hasn't been.

    Thanks BB

I ordered the Gilded Dragon yesterday after I got a promo email from PM. Free shipping to the US too. The 50,000 limited mintage attracted me, and the gilded version from PM was priced lower than the standard BU here in the States. After doing more research is seems that the gilded versions aren't too popular. I was going to get the complete set, but decided just to go with the dragons. Hopefully I didn't make a poor decision.
