    Hey, to all fellow collectors

Does anyone else have Lunar Capsules for 1KG coins that they can check?

I just recently got a mouse coin and noticed that the capsule has a bit of a gap compared to some other Kilos I have like my Koala. Is this normal? It is definitely not easy to open, but I can manage to pull it apart if I try really hard. My Koala, I feel like the capsule would break if I even tried

Anyone else have some at home that they can check?

    Thanks

The Lunar , Koala and Kooks share the same capsules. ( Current years )
Yes, they is a gap in between the top and the bottom halves.

There may be some old capsules out there too. ( with thicker rim )

It is rather hard to pull them apart due to the vacuum, You should try pull out the 10 kilo one. Lol

Even to put them back it may takes awhile.

    Thanks Golden Chipmunk.

I can pull it apart if I try hard enough (Mouse) but I just notice when I received it and when I put in back in capsule, it is impossible to get the capsule to close completely flush.

It looks like there will always be a bit of a gap, easy enough to get your fingers/fingernails in. Are yours the same?

There are 2 types of capsules out there. One of them is Frosted Rim, which is the older one, this one do have a slight gap in between.
The clear rim is the recent one, gap is much closer or minimum. Lesser than 0.5 mm

A bit tough to make out the edges on the old one (to see how big the gap is) but I still appreciate your efforts!

Hey Chip what are the external dimensions of the newer/bigger capsule on the right?
Is the half kilo the same as the kilo?
    Cheers

    The diameter is 110 mm.
Half and Kilo are the same diameter with exception thickness of approximate 9 mm for the half kilo.
We still have a handful of the half kilo Lunar ( Brand New left )

    Cheers
