I'd typed up the story to this, only to lose it to an errant keystroke. Not to worry. Today I completed the current 1oz series II lunar golds and took a happy snap of the family while visiting the city for other business. It all started with that rabbit in the shot. It was an innocent replacement for a panda gone wrong. And that was my downfall. That one coin got me started on a lunar silver charade that ended with the 2oz mouse. That and the silver price put a stop to my acquisitionitis for silver. So gold had to fill in the empty space. Looking forward to the dragon next year and hope I'll still be interested enough to complete the set in 2019.
Nice, I have the former 2 coins tiger and rabbit coins, very large and nice coins. At the moment waiting for my oxen to join my double set of 1/10oz coins. I will have a similar family too, which I will complete in 1/10oz denominations. Slam
Thats why I have a few spares of the tiger. I've basically locked in the future price for a number of these in the future by holding those so I am not lcked out of getting the whole set down the track.
From the point of view of price I mean. Buying a 2019 pig for $7000 or more say doesnt sound good to me.
yes the mouse could either be the cheapest or the most expensive depending when in the 12 year cycle you purchase it. Nice set by the way!
Quit putting ideas into my head! I have 2 tigers, but I spent the rest of my recent gold money on 6 2010 kangaroos. The way my stocks are performing, I cannot sell any more of them to buy gold. However, Mom might be in need of some gold lunars.
How about buying 1/10s for $850 sound, premiums included ROLF. Its pretty scary to think about paying those amounts to complete your set. For me, I would trade the earlier series for the new releases and ask for a cash adjustment because of numismatic value (depending on rarity). Its more pain for me now, for initial outlay. But its more gain later and would be worth it. Slam
Hear that sound? That's the empty reverberating sound of the same idea entering my head. Filled to pussy's bow with silver, time for yellow, me thinks! What better way to do it than collecting the Chinese calendar?! Fantastic idea...
