Word is that most Australian dealers have now been told of their allocations for the 1oz Dragons and they are shockingly low. Apparently the Perth Mint has decided to allocate nearly all of the 1oz Dragons to foreign bullion dealers and what's left over for Australia will be sold directly from the Perth Mint itself. Looks like its a case of Australians being shafted by a government owned business while the foreign companies get to cash in. Shameful.

Is this based on Steve's (Aurora Et Luna) post?

Or is this something you have confirmed Matthew?

Sorry, not questioning you, just want to make sure we don't start a riot out of nothing. I do want to start a riot though.

The Perth Mint riots 2012. Quick! Start a Wikipedia page for it :D

Ironically it may be cheaper to buy from APMEX + foot the "GST" from FedEx than it is to buy from Perth Mint...mmm

I have been in contact with a very large Australian bullion dealer trying to secure my own box of dragons. Friday was (so I've been told) where dealers had their orders confirmed and they are so low, they told the mint to stick their order altogether.

Well unless you actually know the allocations, then it's purely conjecture.... and if you did, and were talking about them, then 'd suspect someone was violating some sort of agreement.

Anyway... I'm just concentrating on getting some.... Two weeks and 3 days to go.

That is assuming Apmex has a huge allocation.

From the sounds of it, everyone has thin allocation. Because Perth mint knows the huge demand.

We will see sept 1 onwards.

The great 2012 dragon scandal ..... millions of potential scalpers collectors denied of their precious scalping material dragon coin.

So in effect the dragon allocation will be:

    1. Foreign bullion dealers - - > nearly the lot
    2. Perth Mint direct selling - - > just a few
    3. Australian dealers - - > the scraps

If you have pre-ordered from an Australian dealer, unless they had some specific deal going with the Perth Mint, forget it you won't be getting any I'd say.

If I don't get my pre-allocations I'll boycott Perth Mint products forever.

I'm just trying to let members know to look overseas for their dragons and those who have pre-ordered should probably think about contingency plans as their orders wont be filled. The bullion company I was in contact with feel so gutted they are complaining to the ACCC about whats happened. I guess also if you allocation is zero or next to zero there's hardly any agreement to violate if there was one anyhow!

I am having trouble finding the original thread with the substitution details on them. Anyone able to locate it?

The next big issue will be. Is there a limit on Koala allocation.

Going off of memory, but I believe GP's order allowed substitution of koalas and kooks with a $50 rebate.

For the Dealer who's been holding my money and providing email confirmation to my allocations would be very well wise to allocate me first...no threat - just a promise :)

Holding Ag back from Ag Dragons will be a Wikipedia page to itself

    Hey Mickjohn,

In this thread we were throwing around the idea of a reneg on inital allocations and presales.

    http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-10613-ssh-heads-up-lunar-dragons-2012-for-40-each-sweet.html

I was thinking of bumping this.. id illuded to the fact Perth Mint may be just trying to chill us out and tell us brothers what we want to hear so as to avoid any negative consequences of hugely dissapointed collectors missing out on something they have been waiting 11 years for...

Who knows what will happen.. i just know we cant all have as many as we want given tiny universal mintage of 300k.. the verbal assurances DID NOT assure me.

Naturally frustrating, however, what about substituting 2oz for the 1oz coins?
