Haven't series begun with 2010 tiger in 2009? Then it should end later, in 2022 I think. :)

My favorite is also tiger (also born in year of tiger). Beside that would also buy tiger although it looks like it came from cartoon :p, horse, snake, maybe rabbit and mice. All other are less interesting for me. The problem is that every time Lunar year changes there is so many coins with same animal.

I would think dealers would get the coins from the Perth Mint for a lot less than retail price?

why members have a hard time to sell them horses? and the prices are reasonable...if the horse is considered the second most sought coin in the series after the dragon and not selling what is going to happen to the rest? spot really needs to make a move!

Well I feel it's a nice coin, just not fully appreciated yet that's all.

Though personally I would only pay less than 700 AUD for a roll considering current spot prices could still head lower.

The Tiger is the most sought after coin followed by the Ox and the Dragon.
Currently the mouse and rabbit are still fetching higher premiums so on popularity the horse is just one rung above the Snake.
The key dates to hold in the Lunar 2 series is the Mouse, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit as their mintages is supposedly held to 300,000 coins + a limited amount of 1oz special versions.
The Dragon is a popular animal however with a guessestimated mintage of 700,000+ of the 1 oz Dragon in its various guises, it's going to take a while before we see shortages.

    1. horses are hard to sell at $38 coz dealers have these at stock at lower prices, so please do not compare it to mouse, tiger, dragon, etc - i.e. coins that have long been gone. We can start comparing horses to mouses in 2015 - that's when horses will start riding, until then be patient. As soon as APMEX and alike sells the last horse - then it will be obvious if horse is a fail or not

2.I think the rank in near 5 years will be: tiger, ox, dragon, horse, the rest

    3. key dates for me are ox and tiger - the rest are just semi-semi-numiz

why would u put the variations in here? they are not part of the lunar set. the set only includes the 1oz bullion version,no privy,no nothing. So I'd say dragon first and then the rest.more than a billion people in China and they love dragons.I'd put the tiger up there with the dragon but dont like the design.

even the proof coins are hard to move. there is a 3coin tiger on the forum(never seen one for sale in the past year) for reasonable price and no bite?

I've noticed the slow down too, it seems like people may have just spent all they had for the month. Give it a month or two for some money to flow back in and the sales start moving again.

if they want the variations too, that would be dragon again..so many of them to collect.some hot ,some not..problem with the privy,to collect the whole set,the mint should go back and mint the mouse and the others but i doubt that will happen.

    Not everyone are set collectors
A lot of people buy only one coin because they were born in that particular lunar year
If a privy is $20 cheaper, there is a good chance they will buy that one instead of a regular uncirculated
With the earlier coins, supply is tighter as there isn't 200000 privies choking sales

this thread was created for the 1oz bullion standard coins. 200k privies for the dragon and still the best seller, imo .I understand yr point of view too.
