Hi all, New to the forum! And probably been buying coins for the past year, just wanted to get some opinions on whether low serial numbers are more valuable? Received an order for the D&D Brown snake with cert #0002 which I was extremely exited to see!
a D&D Brown snake #2 will make a big difference in price. i remember someone here sold a misprint brown snake for $1005.
I know a source of low number Proof Rabbits. I bought a couple, one was number 9 the other 11. They had 4, 6, 7, 10. I was wondering where 8 was, I wanted number 8. Dealer said sometimes the perth mint will reserve numbers and pick them out for overseas markets. Slam
A low number will not hurt it's resale that is for sure. As too how much premium it really depends. A mate of mine snapped up a Lunar dog series with cert # 007 I am sure someone will pay little extra for that one. I know if he wasn't getting it I was
Classic Projack Unfortunately my mates set would not be up for sale in any foreseeable future would have made a nice addition to your collection. It was the 4 coin set in box I think it was $245 or $255 either way still pricey but way cheaper than current ones.
If it's seriously the difference between $100 and $1,000 based on the paper COA I reckon there's some guys I know who could knock up a COA any number I want. Seriously, its a given its going to happen for just a piece of paper.
Thanks for the opinions! Will be interesting to see how much it goes for if I ever sell it... and that is pretty cool Projack!
You would need to make a box also for most of them. I think it may add 10% -20% depending on the number. Under 00010 (High) and any runs ie: 1234(Med) or 8888(V High) or 7777(Med) or 65432(Med) etc...
I think you'd just need to make the paper COA. My series 1 Lunars are just in a case that are all generic, the outer box/sleeve are all generic. The only difference between any of them is the paper COA, that's the bit you'd only need to change. I suspect if you took my 2000 Dragon Proof and knocked up a new COA with say the number 2000, it would go for $500+ whereas the coin as is now with number whatever, would sell for maybe $200.
if you are thinking of selling it the best time would be just after the last release (the box jelly fish i believe) which will bring the prices of all the D@Ds up. from then on it will probably be all down hill.
I sold 6x5gm PM gold bars with certicard 3 months ago. Client emailed back after receiving it questioning the authenticity of the bars because they bars where numbered: 0000001 0000002 0000003 0000004 0000005 0000006 I told him he could get an immediate refund or replacement. Never heard from him again. Really kicking myself.
