Is that a gold or silver coin ?

Are you sure its authentic ?

Looks Roman , and the ruler's name seems to start with a D
Maybe one of the below rulers

    Decentius
    Delmatius
    Diadumenian - maybe this ruler
    Didia Clara
    Didius Julianus
    Diocletian
    Domitia
    Domitia Lucilla
    Domitian
    Domitianus
    Domitilla I
    Domitilla II
    Domitius Domitianus
    Drusus
    Dryantilla

check the images of the coins until you find something that resembles your coin

It looks to be in too good a condition to be genuine, but what do I know. :)

I find it strange that an ancient gold coin was bought below spot value ?

and for an ancient it is in perfect or unc condition.
    Where was it bought?

My hometown, local dealer buy it from some women, original it was offered 30eur for the coin in jewellery shop then she go to other local dealer who is buying AU/AG and he offers 230 eur for it , at that moment it was spot price according his story , women took only 200 eur and go away, it is strange to me also,it even dont look like Diocletian on other coins, but according her story she find it in stoned piece of mud , she broken it and it was inside. I will measure it tomorrow by water...

The coin looks too good and posted from a member in China...thus most people assume its a fake.

a reputable dealer on eBay could easily get at least $3k for it imo ( provided its authentic )

The reason i think its fake is the faces of it are in great condition yet the outside perimeter is all over the place .surely whoever made it if they had the means to make such a nice die for the head could make a blank that was consistent.A coin couldnt be that worn on the edges & the faces of it not be worn at all IMO.Nothing to do with where it came from. Im happy to be proved wrong

No I assume its fake because it was apparently found in the ground in China - which means that it a) It travelled to China presumably some time ago and presumably in a chest of other coins, a purse with other coins or in a pocket etc. and b)then somehow ended up in the ground for a considerable period of time (if the mud it was found in was compressed hard that indicates a period of a minimum of decades. After all this travelling, use and abuse and entombment in the ground it comes out looking just minted? - a 24k gold coin would not be in that condition IMO given the possible scenario's with the possible proviso that it had Chuck Norris's bust on it :p Also forgive me if I'm wrong but ancient Roman coins arn't often or indeed at all dug up in China to my knowledge - they are however faked in abundance along with Panda's, Morgan dollars, shoes, eggs, medicine and most other items..

Mi lao shu's hometown is somewhere in Europe given euros is mentioned as being offered so the coins were dug up somewhere in Europe if I'm not mistaken. I have no idea if they are fake or not but I did have an interesting read on the history of Diocletian so thanks to the OP for bringing this up.

+1 At the moment i am on vacation in my home country-Serbia, and the area where it "was" found in past was Roman village, and some stores was founded in the past, so i believe this part is true but i am not sure it is genuine or not yet , however i get some offer of 3.5k usd for him from some antiquity trader only based on pictures, but something is fishy bcoz i didnt find it in catalog, so additional research is necessary....

Density test say is 24k gold, but experts for Rome r not sure, have 50/50 chance is org or fake, definitely is minted but the problem is is minted more like medallion than coin bcoz is perfect round, only way to be sure is to bring it at Rauch in Wiena but this will need to wait my second come in Europe. At moment i am 60% is original.
