lol... I won at least 2 of the auctions in the "coins sold" list ;)

Damnit didn't see the 1989 NGC MS69 or would've won that too :p

    Congrats!

You gotta read the list closely to make sure you don't miss out on stuff ;).

Checked the listing, seems they don't ship overseas.

Kind of sucks, I'm missing around 5 coins to finish my set but the sellers are all charging crazy prices for them ($180 for 1989, $300 for 1995 NGC69) etc

At those prices I might as well get the proof PF69...geez

You americans are so lucky :D

As a somewhat random aside, I've been entering data into the coin compendium lately. There will be a feature that will alert you any time a coin on your wanted list becomes available.

    Which 1995 do you need?

Any 1995, just completing the set of one every year MS69 NGC.

Of course if a micro date shows up for $500 I won't say no ;)

    I'm just missing

    1989
    1991
    1993
    1995
    1996

Got the rest through eBay, RCC, coinex and members on here.

Might have to get the 87 too but not sure if that's really part of 'the set' as it's PF.

ps. good feature on that coin compendium; I think I've seen that on another website before but my noscript blocked it as an XSS vulnerability lol...but I'd trust badon's website enough to whitelist it.

    I'll have to check when I get home, but I think I have a 1989 and a 1995 available.

    Hi Tamo42 and Fishball,

I am a new panda collector and I am having trouble collecting graded pandas. Thank you Tamoo42 for the list - it is very helpful but many of the sellers if not most of them only deliver to the US (as Fishball says) so I am not able to buy too. Fishball, are you saying you managed to buy/bid from the "coins sold" list?? I don't bother looking at that list as I thought they are already sold. I don't find the prices 'cheap' or very reasonable - alot of them are over $200 (MS69s). Being a new panda collector, you can imagine the cost ... I am now thinking whether it is better to buy some MS68s since they are slightly cheaper. Not a great idea, I know to mix MS69 and 68 as a collection ... hmmm

    Advice or suggestions, please.

Thanks. I am learning alot from this forum and from your list Tamo42. Thanks.

Yep I got two from that list at least (both had over 20 bids on the auction, market is quiet what? :p), didn't check all the coins. It's not easy to get graded Pandas over here, I camped a lot of auctions and overpaid on some coins.

Some sellers ship overseas and you're right they're very overpriced, so I'm waiting for auctions to finish my set as opposed to buy it nows on eBay ($400 for a 1991 LD wat?).

I started the set not long ago, the $$ I have spent so far is a few grand give or take, although I get side tracked and bid on bargains and other coins like Guan Yin and Unicorns...ahhh.

I guess you're right it looks daunting at the start but I treat it as a hobby and think of it as a low risk investment as it's a tiny proportion of my precious metals investment.

Anyway, MS68s look like a good deal and you could start there but you would have to buy them very cheap and then trade upwards to MS 69 to make it worthwhile.

I don't think MS68 for common dates such as 06-11 would be a good buy but if you're stretched thin on money a rarer $200 MS68 2000 frosted could be an alternative.

I can't help you with the decision to buy 68 or not, you have to decide yourself :p

ps. If you can get MS 68's for OMP price, that's a good buy.

pps. I also employ the help of wonderful people such as tamo, 25Grizzlies and mmm shineyyyy to find me some good prices/coins ;)

    @Marcusboy

In addition to what Fish has added, you may want to check out this thread.

    http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-18597-ms-what-determining-the-value-of-graded-vs-omp.html

If you're on a budget but want to collect graded Pandas, I think you will do fine with MS68s. You'll be able to get eye-appealing coins that are guaranteed genuine for a smaller premium. In a future sale you won't capture the same price of a MS69, but you'll still do better than a loose, capsule-only, and likely most OMP coins.

I personally have not had any trouble selling MS68s that I randomly picked up. I've also seen far more experienced panda collectors selling MS68s successfully at nice premiums.

I would personally be comfortable buying MS68s if I wasn't able to find or afford an MS69.

    Good luck!

Good answers. Im a newbie but i only buy ms69 or 70's
    And ngc
If i dont want to pay the ngc 69 price i wait until i like the price or i buy the omp.
I have the complete 1 oz collection from 1989 to 2011
And begin with the ngc 69s. I have only one of the prior years the 1991LD an i pay only 184 shipped.
The 2005 to 2011 i have some but i have missing years because i dont like to pay more than 120 shipped (i dont have the 2004/7/8) i think i will buy for less than 120 when i win any auctions.
I dont like the after 2001's in less than 69 because the big population

Haha yeah i'm waiting too until I like the price...for some.

I did however just buy some here and there at buy it now prices because even historical eBay auction quite high such as 92,94 and frosted 00 panda.

The cheaper ones like 89, 96, 95 I'm just waiting on the sidelines until good price come up... current ask price on eBay far too high.

Yeah Pre-2000 I try to match pricepedia prices or less including shipping. Very hard to find for some years though.

I know I overpaid auctions by $20-30 on some pre-2000 coins by buying it instantly/offers but they're so hard to find I just went and bought them anyway since still cheaper than pricepedia list.

This is very smart. Availability is often much more important than a few bucks.

Side note, do Aussies use the term 'bucks?'

68s are OK if that's what you like, but we don't consider them investment quality (very rare execptions).

And I'm glad the list is helping you learn more!

    We sure do,

However I'm a little confused as to why you are so down on the importance of male deer. Seems kinda random when we are discussing modern Chinese coins.

Bucks is slang for dollars. It comes from using a buck knife to denote being the dealer in 19th century poker games.[/trivia]
