The markets are starting to pick up again. Check out the LBC list for your investment grade pandas (and lunars and Marco Polos and gods of wealth and and and...).

There's a lot to be learned about the market even if shipping to AU is prohibitive :).

I'm thinking that the trend in prices will be up from here.

I thought the prices were picking up from 2012, depending on how the Lunar dragon performs.

    Or maybe I misinterpreted badon's post :p

What he's saying is that there may be sellers cashing out of pandas to get into lunars. But at the same time, the overall market is picking up.

So I don't think we'll see much in the way of lower prices. The selling to get into dragons will probably just keep the pandas a bit lower than they otherwise would have been, but not create a decline in absolute terms.

What's the mintage for that coin yennus?

I still can't find a comprehensive mintage site for all modern chinese coins, including commeratives...

Could someone please include a link here or PM me if they know a good mintage site.

    Cheers

Am I safe in assuming there's no 2011 commemorative with a mintage >30,000?

As always thanks for the great information tamo42 ...

Chinese pandas are hot right now and I agree with tamo42, it will be picking up from here. As mentioned at CCF two or three days ago some very wealthy collector walked into rarecoincollector (one of my favorite graded panda dealers) in Sarasota, Florida and purchased every single silver graded BU & Proof panda that Monique had which by estimates was well over $100,000 just in Chinese pandas. I checked again today and she has only restocked about 3 silver pandas so far :)

This fact along with along with the fact that just a few months ago, a large collector did the same thing at Panda America except that they also scooped up every raw silver panda as well and the majority of the gold pandas too. I check both of these sites almost daily and I see that Panda America has finally gotten a few pandas back in stock however the few they have are mostly graded.

Considering that these very large panda dealers have been bought out and the other large dealers are maintaining current prices I would say that Chinese Pandas are as strong as ever and will only grow in demand.
