Hi Grizzly, you can buy those Krugerrands cheaper here in OZ and save yourself lots of money in airfares. $25.60 per coin for a tube of 25 with ABC bullion. The SGD is stronger than ours and works out at $25.94 per coin. All the best.

Thanks for that. I will be in Singapore on business anyway, coin shopping is just a side trip. The Bullion Star website let's you pick various currencies to show pricing in, and the non Perth Mint coins look to be quite a bit cheaper than Australia, other than the Krugerrand that you pointed out. Interestingly Bullion Star will let you pay in Australian dollar cash, although they charge 1% on top of price shown. So probably cheaper to find a competitive money changer and convert AUD to SGD and pay that way, but I have not done that math yet.

I have noticed Bullion Star prices go up dramatically for older coins, but current year maples, philharmonic etc etc. look to be quite a bit cheaper than buying in Australia. And they have a big variety of other coins to choose from.

I will probably stay away from the pandas though, I don't understand the market for those coins, there is a huge premium charged for coins that get minted in the millions. Ok, I might pick up one or two as novelty items, but I can't see myself collecting them.

I will be there just after CNY. Maybe some sales since most people will have spent all their money in advance of CNY? Will have cash to convert for sure.
