I agree here with bb. No collector value will be realized until end of the series with reminting possible. A recent remint was done making it easy to source ox/mouse/rabbit 1kg coins. Id pick the lowest price
Here's some ebay sold stats for the Rabbit. http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Coins-/1...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 And the Horse http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Coins-/1...lete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Also, for interest sake the mintage / sales figures...See page 2 of 3 The Australian Lunar Silver Bullion Series Two 2008 - 2015 Sales figures are correct as at 31 December 2014 Last updated 19 February 2015 (The figures are a guide / poor guide at that and will change) http://www.perthmint.com.au/investment-bullion-bars-and-coins-mintages.aspx
Yea the higher mintage on the rabbit was one of the things I was weighing, but like the other said they can be minted for another 3 years, so who really knows where the numbers will end.
You assume they can ? They cant even mint the current monkeys, kooks and koalas on time. Seen any 10oz or 2oz monkeys ? 10oz or 1kg kooks ? You are dreaming if you think they will mint past years Kg coins.
I wouldn't assume Perth's course of action / direction they will take for future bullion products. Availability??? Any dealer with a large enough order can have any of the series 2 kilo coins minted IAW Perth's mintage policy. The Ox, Mouse, Tiger, Rabbit were freely available March / April 2013. Edit If you can buy them cheaply, who knows where the price could be a few years down the track or indeed ten? My bet is we will see a big lift in metal prices in the medium term and the kilo coins (Restrikes) could be very expensive.
