i just bought a 1996 eagle rated a ms 69 by the ngc i was wondering whats its worth? ..i paid 55 for it but im new to numismatics Source: Source:
Are you a stacker or a coin collector. If your'e a stacker it is worth $37.50 an if your'e a collector it may be worth what someone is prepared to offer you. Regards Errol43
1996 was the lowest mintage for Silver Eagles with 3,603,386 produced. By comparison, there were 34,662,500 ASEs minted in 2010. You've got the rarest ASE in near perfect condition for basically spot + the cost of the slab. I think you got a good deal.
Whoo hoo! glad to know my first venture into slabbed coins was a good one. i figured get one coin to try it out, but now ..who knows i might get 2 or 3 more just to be safe...cover all bases ya know.
$37.50 !? You cant buy these coins ( any year ! ) for this much money - even if you were to buy 100 oz worth. $55 for the lowest mintage coin in an MS69 NGC slab is a great price.
On average I would say ungraded 1996's carry a premium of spot + $10 while others typically come in at spot + $3-4. I deal with these often. You got a good deal. Tuck it away and be happy.
Sorry fellow stackers. I know f... all about collector coins. I only buy coins that are at spot plus 10%. I won't comment again on collector coins as I'm not really interested. Regards Errol43
I recon your spot on errol, bought 4 1986 3 weeks ago avg price 38 delivered Edit to add: NIce coin BTW schmitdyss, a genuine bargain!
$38 delivered !! - thats some cheap silver you got, both the premium over spot paid as well as postage were bargains. For every 20 you buy at those prices and conditions you can get a free oz by flipping them here than.
update i just got another ASE 1996 ms69 ...but this time i only spent 50!! and i got a 2009 ASE but not slabbed ...what a great day
