If you're new to investing in silver, then you'd better go for the big recognized brands and purchase something that's highly likely to be genuine. Purity is an issue: a small producers would have difficulties in creating the purest bars (even if they wanted to). What do they make the bar from? Some just melt all sorts of silver coins and other objects - which are far from .999 purity. I'd stay away from small producers, also because their bars would be a lot harder to sell later. Go for the bigger brands, buy from a dealer. Or, just buy tubes of coins. Focus on purity at least .999
