Going with the family(4yo and 7yo) to Tokyo and Takayama for about ten days at the end of June. Any tips from fellow Japan Stackers about worthwhile places or shops to visit from a precious metal or numismatics angle? The kids want to go to Disney, Hello Kitty Land and Lego World. Will also been be checking out the camera and hifi audio scene. Thanks in advance.
Will post this evening. I've been there many times and to all the places you are going. Also maybe Andsing56 member whom I really get along with will update you as he lives in Japan.
If you mean Takayama in Gifu, the Gifu colored 1,000 yen coin (1 oz silver) is one of the better looking ones IMO. But it might be easier to find a Niue silver coin in Niue, than a Gifu silver coin in Gifu
Currency Musuem in Tokyo is awesome and free (Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies Bank of Japan) near Mitsukoshi Station .. spent a few hours in there last month. Some incredible specimens and visual exhibits.. very educational indeed.
