Yes, it all goes through mobile phone towers. I have a smart phone however I have not logged into any google accounts on it. I have disabled most of the google apps and if I really need an app, I can get most of them anonymously from APKpure: https://apkpure.com I also have all location services disabled.
Just my privacy. That used to be a right in the old days. Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean you don't have a right to privacy. Stackers should know this!
Email is easy. Don't use Gmail or hotmail etc. Use free protonmail: https://protonmail.com/ It is fully encrypted and based in Switzerland.
So a decent VPN, a Linux based PC, encrypted email and use of a burner phone should allow us to remain relatively private. Definitely worth the hassle of losing access to unnecessary apps and programs in my opinion.
Yes, I don't use a burner phone but I only do texts and phone calls on it. My laptop and all in one both run Linux Mint and both automatically connect to my VPN as soon as the computer starts up.
It’s kind of like home security. Some people are happy with a basic lock on all doors, maybe a camera and a puppy. Some people want bunkers, panic rooms, a mote with crocodiles, 10 foot high iron security gate with razor wire and movement sensor flood lighting. Whatever helps you sleep
Well now they're on to you. As if blowing the whistle on the space invader conspiracy wasn't enough!!
You must be a lot younger, or smarter than me, (or both), because @ozcopper advised me to get a VPN ages ago, but being an OLD FART*, I figured I'd be dead before I learned how to do it. _JLG. *emphasis on FART. **Oops, sorry about the brown colour. (COLOR, for our U.S. SUBSCRIBERS). **I thought it was a FART anyway. MY BAD.
I was going to get a VPN but after the recent revelation that NordVPN admitted it was hacked a year ago, I am not so sure about getting one now.
So was talking to my sister tonight on the phone (using hands free rather than hold to ear) and we started talking about how we get our father to consider getting a mobility scooter due to his declining ability to drive a car etc. My sister then said that her mother inlaw in Hervey Bay uses one etc. I then decided to google search mobility scooter hire whilst I was speaking to my sister to aid the discussion (phone next to my PC) and was shocked at the suggested search words coming out of google. I've never typed Hervey Bay into google in my life. Yep, even my 10 year old Logitech camera / mic (on a Windows 7 machine) is being used to listen in. Note: Logitech cam / mic now unplugged.
Windows 7 did not use to spy on you but it was back doored in with some security updates. When I reload a computer with Windows 7, I disable updates as they do more harm than good. I install a couple of critical updates manually and just use a free anti virus.
