I worked for 3 years without pay after the GFC. It was hard yet it was good for me. Built character and showed me what was valuable in life and who my true mates were.

That could be the biggest assets in years to come if we want to survive...

I think that this society is underestimating, severely underestimating, the changes that are gathering.

It's beginning to look a lot like depression with the joyful backdrop of a pandemic to make society even more on the edge of oblivion. I'm not being a doomsdayer, but after 30 years of plenty, Australians are little ready for the sort of challenges on the doorstep.

On the Facebook feed I see an endless line of 'the government should' (usually pay money) for everything from artists to factories. So on the OP question, yes, this is the end of the age of entitlement and it is going to be very painful for a lot of people. It's all very well for the debt free with a pile of metal, but that is such a small percentage of people you'd be best to keep very quiet about your circumstance if you're that lucky. Personally I'll be moaning loudly with the rest.

I've gone on about life in the 1970s before, but I think this is much scarier. A full on depression with a disease running rampant is a nightmare. My hope is that the better side of humanity shows through.

They still have smart phones, so unfortunately that's not going to stop.
Heck, half of them have degrees in this crap.

Our govt workers and disabled/ welfare recipients will be the new ruling class here in america.
Once everyone else (working class) is out of jobs they are the only ones that will recieve checks regularly.
It's the age where the counterfeiter makes the rules.
All they have to do is make more promises for free stuff.

The socialist tripe plastered all over facebook by my PhD mates (who of course believe they have inherited the Earth) is very troubling. Posting about how Coles and Woolies aren't doing enough to cater to their home isolation needs and how more money is needed to take care of the university students affected... Some of these people aren't even Australian, LOL

Yep there are no accidents in central planning and we will all lose more than money during this one.
Trump is signing bills to confiscate property and to force businesses to comply with govt wishes while he blows trillions on polishing a turd of his economy.
Manufacturing was already imploding and the economy was already tanking when they ushered in this black swan but dont question it. It's all about a flu.

Now everyone is excited about their free checks. The brainless that cheer for more are always excited for a fat handout.

The dying cough of masculinity trying to preserve itself in any way possible...

Without the beard and tats that is a slightly more built female

    That's what I thought.
I've often observed people, even those I know, where if you take away the tats, fashion and image, you are often left with little else.

Women are picking up the slack though I'll give them that. Plenty of them at work that look like Victoria Secret models with the personality of bulldogs. Men are some kind of fashion accessory nowadays, so some tats and a beard make them look more 'ornate'. A caricature of a man is actually more desirable than the real thing, especially with the trashing of marriage and the hookup culture.

I'm being cynical of course, plenty of good girls in small towns or overseas :D!

The worm will turn with the anti masculinity and entitlement camp.
I have personally seen and know women that at one time thought men were full of shit with regards to the likes of family court and they were just claiming FAKE or false discrimination as they did not get there way.
Well some of those same women NOW fully accept discrimination occurs towards men because they are in relationships with these men and are watching perfectly good fathers get F'd just because they are men and have found it is different on the other side.

There are other things as well but i feel this is the easiest to highlight.
Entitlement culture will end one day but it takes many people to be negatively effected before change occurs just like the women experiencing family courts through the eyes of their partners,
As said above in this thread, there comes a tipping point and perhaps we could be close to a tipping point.
Sadly as far as it goes with those students having parties and saying they do not care if they get this virus as they will not get that sick ,will turn when they go on and infect a loved one and they DIE.

Reason two lesbians can't be divorced is because it is impossible to give each 75%!

    I've said it before:

    Women can have terminations,
    Men can marry men, and
    Women can marry women.

Then in three generations there will be no more Labor voters!

That's one good thing that can come out of this.

Some bad things that can come out of this is governments/powers will never let a good crisis go to waste. eg. ban on cash, no freedoms, police state, bio chip for all, ect.
