After 1 week in limbo Poloniex finally fixed the issue, so I'm happy about that. Though this has left a bitter taste in my mouth. They never told me what the issue was.
I thought ill give them a 2nd change and did a small transfer. This time i tried to withdraw Siacoin and guess what happened? Withdrawal is stuck as Awaiting approval again well that's it for me. I'm going to go and kiss my silver coins.
Got all my filthy lucra out of Poloniex a few day's ago except what I want to keep/risk on the side for trading, been waiting for the 50 K verification for what seems like ages now and was fretting having to pull out just the limit each day. Even the limit changes hour by hour with 2 k allowed one minute and 1800 the next depending on your wallets value at the time. The ETH wallet was disabled altogether earlier tonight.
I stopped used them a while ago, they are a joke. Have you tried Bittrex? They offer heaps of coins like Poloniex, but I found them much better to deal with.
Yeh, I still have a withdrawal limit with them. Should really expand my options. The ETH came through eventually. But it really shouldn't take 2 hours.
Have you tried increasing your Gas limit on your transactions ? It can work wonders with the speed of your transfers for just a few extra cents.
Well it looks like BTC-e was the next exchange to fall. I used them a lot in the beginning, but stopped about a month ago. Lucky me. https://www.coindesk.com/110-million-btc-e-fined-us-vows-crackdown-unregulated-exchanges/ http://fortune.com/2017/07/27/btc-e-digital-currency/ Who will be next? EtherDelta comes to mind.
Etherdelta ? not sure how that would work as it is a decentralized exchange and as such doesn't actually store your coins for you, they go to a holding wallet and then get transferred to the exchange platform then when the exchange takes place and it is all reversed again by yourself. It is basically a wallet that you yourself control.
Yes I know how EtherDelta works. Just because they can't access the funds doesn't mean they can't stop the site from running. Though if you happen to have your funds deposited at the time the site goes down then you can't get access to those funds, you are only in control of the wallet that is set up when you create an account. Maybe some people would still know how to use it without the GUI, but most will not (me being one of them) so by killing the front end site, you have for the most part killed it off to the majority.
They are having connectivity issues apparently. Been up and down a couple of times in the last few hours.
Why are people still using Polo? Playing with fire really. I got out after they "lost" 100 of my FACTOM tokens and didn't even bother replying to my support ticket. I'm glad the tokens finally arrived weeks later after I wrote it off as a lesson learnt. As for EtherDelta, make sure you link a separate wallet to buy/sell/trade tokens. I personally know of 2 friends that got their wallets hacked (no idea how) and lost all the tokens in the wallet they associated with EtherDelta.
Be aware I think there are some random malicious poloniex emails going around. I've received two, asking me to log in and confirm that I've read an updated terms and conditions and one that said I've received a deposit into my account and I need to log on to check it. The website address the link takes you to looks exactly like poloniex, but Cryptonite doesn't recognise it.
Old news, meant to post it a few days ago, Poloniex has SEC approval. The implications are that trading volumes on this exchange could result in greater opportunities to profit as investment cash piled in. It’s expected that Circle’s acquisition of the exchange will clean things up.
