I'm thinking about picking up a couple of coins from US ebay. Delivery is listed as being handled by USPS First Class Mail International. Anyone had any issues bringing silver into the country with these guys?
No issues whatsoever, having had many items (including valuables) over several years delivered by this carrier.. From my experience, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has been ultra reliable Bear in mind, that (USPS) First Class Mail International has no tracking if that's important to you, but as I said, I have had no issues over several years.. If you want (online) tracking ability, (USPS) Priority Mail International offers this facility, but at increased cost.. Delivery time on average is about the same.. 7 - 10 days, sometimes more, sometimes less
Cheers Dan. Did your valuables include bullion coins or bars? What has me wondering is the prohibited items listed on the USPS site http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/ab_012.htm
i have also had many coins delivered via USPS, and only had one package go missing out of at least 100. But no tracking and no insurance, and my packages almost always cost less than $100 but usually less than $50. USPS is good so far. within 2 wks the goods should be received.
Yes, up to 10 ASE's, Maples, Libertads & the like, never queried.. Looking at that link, it looks like import restrictions at this end... I'm kinda puzzled as to why platinum, gold, & silver is included (???) If you're worried, a Priority Mail Small Flat Rate Box (220x135x42mm) is US$13.95 .. This is trackable (and insured, I think)..
I have found USPS really good, only downside is that they always leave the goods in my letterbox or front door if I am not home.
i agree usps firstclass international is good i buy bike parts from the states & have never had anything go missing
