Hi all. Anyone have any clues as to the provenace of this item listed on the bay? My 15th edition of McDonalds doesn't show it. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Holey-Dollar...&otn=4&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=8298035659744631992 Cheers
Inaugural Conference NAAC2005 The inaugural NAA conference was held 25 - 27 November 2005 at the Powerhouse Museum and the Australian Centre for Ancient Numismatic Studies, Macquarie University. http://naa-online.com/ One of the session speakers was Andrew Crellin from Sterling and Currency in Fremantle, I am sure he would not mind answering your questions. http://www.sterlingcurrency.com.au/ My understanding is that the Numismatic Association did strike medals/tokens for their events. I would be surprised if there were was not one at the Powerhouse Museum as I understand they have collected a lot of material. http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/ Unfortunately the Museum Victoria site does not go up to that date as yet, but does have some interesting things on it perhaps for a future reference. http://museumvictoria.com.au/coins/index.html As your enquiry most likely falls under medals/tokens they would not be in the McDonalds and I have also looked in my latest copy of Renniks but they do not really cover medals/tokens.
Definitely a Token to commemorate the meeting IMO. It would be a nice keepsake but doubt it too have any real Numismatic value. Andrew would be able to answer and he is very approachable with questions I have found.
Thanks for following up on this,Austacker. Your post has established the origin of it..all I need to know.
