Some ancient stoic quotes by Seneca:

That which Fortune has not given, she cannot take away.

A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials.

It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.

Gold tests with fire, woman with gold, man with woman

No man is crushed by misfortune unless he has first been deceived by prosperity

Until we have begun to go without them, we fail to realize how unnecessary many things are. We've been using them not because we needed them but because we had them.

    Musical chairs I say.

The folk who are playing the music win.

The folk scrambling for the metal seat loose.

How long will the music play?

Who is playing the tune? I think we know that and...fwiw, why is silver getting driven down so hard?

    Ans:

They will play fast music and you will be the dizzy bunch with vertigo, staggering to their music.

It's easy to play your own game...grab a comfortable chair...stack a few ounces of metal...save some cash...crack a beer and watch the others scramble when the music stops. :D

I don't want to sound like a total word but why are you concerned about the value of metals? Didn't you sell all your metals? From the stories you've told over the years it sounds as though you don't have a lot to your name. I'm all for the minimalist lifestyle, but rather than "investing" in metals which will never earn you an income, why not use money that you earned from your job (you have one now, right?) to help yourself in today AND tomorrow's world?

I'm just spitballing here, but here are some ideas:

1oz of gold or a hydraulic log splitter? Drive around town and split wood for people for a fee
3oz of silver or a decent order of organic seeds, some good soil and manure? Grow some nice healthy veggies for yourself and the family. Even if you're not a green thumb there are some absolutely foolproof things you can grow - sell or trade the excess with others. Grow frigging kale - it's trendy and the last batch I grew I literally threw the seeds on the ground and walked away.

Remember that in times of hyperinflation, other things retain value, not just gold and silver. Air compressors still power rattle guns, spanners still turn bolts, wheelbarrows still move soil. In the years leading up to any theoretical crash, these tools can help you to earn income and enjoy life (!) rather than gold or silver which just looks pretty but only you can ever know about it.

You say your ready to give up "Faith" altogether The End, meaning currently you still have at least some. If you look at the meaning faith in a religious context I would suggest it means a belief based on a spiritual conviction rather than proof. The outcome of the future is not certain nor is the timing, however most here have a form of faith that relies on an innate sense that what we do is right. Whilst many are rightly suspicious of the agenda of some of those pushing the buy perspective of Pm's, the one thing that unites the forum is the gut feeling (Faith) that what we do we do is for a greater reason. Ultimately you need see through the hype and come back to core of why you keep some of your wealth in PM's.

Mike Maloney was my first intro into PM's and the theory that Silver is real money. To this day i'm not sure that the argument is completely sound, however for me it does't matter, a number of the points he makes I relate to. This forum is full of noise on what will or will not occur in the future, some specific some not so much. In the end it doesn't really matter who is right or wrong, what matters is that if you still have the gut feeling that all is not well in the world, then don't wait for the proof.

If none of this makes sense to you, then you never really had faith as such. What you you had, was and expectation that was never met in your timeframe. In which case you have lost money and perspective, but never faith.

    Good luck - Aude
