    He's over the end.
Btw what did you do with your silver?
Did you sell it or throw it from a cliff?
    If the latter, remember where?

Sorry to hear that. Sound's like the last thing you need is Abbott and Hockey giving you a kick in the balls.

With higher fuel prices, inflation, taxes/levies/whatever, I'm going to be cutting back aggressively on my discretionary spending and am looking for ideas....

    e.g.

    * bring lunch to work every day

    * plan ahead and buy things from overseas if cheaper (I already do this for shirts and pants)

    * investigate serious tax minimisation opportunities

    * convince my wife to cut my hair with clippers

    * Borrow / swap Blu-Ray movies from friends rather than going to the cinema

Looking to add to this list.

    I am.

I didnt make him quit his last jobs.

    or make him vote LNP

its going to get more exciting when the LNP introduce the Fuel taxes increase, and the dole changes, and still paying for the carbon tax ontop of this for the next year at least.

    And like the saying goes.

Be careful of what you wish for, as you might actually get it.

maybe not but they probably would not have been silly enough to brake any more promises :) and they probably would not have gone as far as the Liberals to get the budget back in the black.

Though regardless of the side of politics here I still dont understand how you do not have a job yet your a qualified Diesel Mechanic and we are in a mining boom

just wondering, what was the state of our economy after the 8 yrs of ALP?
Are you celebrating the 8 years they were there stuffing our country?
In 2007, Australia had net financial assets (negative debt) of $29 billion.
And the breaking the promise thing that your supporting, I have 1 thing to say.
"there will be no carbon tax under this government"

You forget that the Labor government was widely celebrated for getting us through the GFC relatively unscathed while other countries following an agenda similar to the current Libs were devastated. The real economic crimes against Australians were perpetrated by the Howard government when they so completely failed to invest the benefits of the mining boom in infrastructure for the future prosperity of the nation and instead squandered it all on vote buying. Future generations will look back on the Howard period as the largest lost opportunity in the nation's history. Indeed, even the IMF has stated that the Howard period was the worst ever in terms of wasteful profligate spending.

in terms of debt to GDP we are one of the best countries in the world.

THere is no "Crisis" like the libs want you to believe

With our debt to GDP levels of around 13%

Compared to the USA 103%, Japan 207% Germany 83% we are NOT in a bad position.

That is one major broken promise in their term of government that the libs hammered and hammered and it cost them the election.

Abbot has broken at least 3 major promises allready, how many more will he break?

His increased Taxes (that he promised he would not need to do ) will eclipse the cost to us from the carbon tax.

Widely celebrated by who? The GFC hasn't hit Australia yet. It won't while China maintains it's high GDP growth each year. You will feel the GFC when China slows down and Australia has no money left because Labor pissed the national savings up against the wall. Only a very special government can put a country into it's deepest debt in history during a mining boom, and that's why a third of the last Labor government including the treasurer and two Prime Ministers don't even have political careers any more and the Labor Party is so close to trading while insolvent and being put into receivership.

So, you just sold your PM's and quit?

Suppose the next crisis knocks at your door, euro crashes, a petroruble system will start rivaling the dollar and gold hits 2,000 $ by new year?

    :p
